Sitting in my living room today I realized that it is Super Bowl Sunday.  I can’t remember when I lost my interest in Football. Was it when I was ,without question, to old to ever play the game again? Was it the jealousy of watching the younger, faster new generation enjoying the game that I use to enjoy as well? Was it a life that had become so busy and harried that time to enjoy viewing ,a fond ,memory was just not allotted. I would have to honestly admit that it is probably the former. My invitation to the Superbowl Party at a friends house was appreciated and a shock. Most everyone who knows me knows that I don’t enjoy watching any sport on television except desert racing. Being at the party with friends and seeing everyone is reason enough to be happy and have a good time.  Twenty two men will play a game today that will culminate most of their careers. There will only be one winner. Time has taught me that because of human variables the winner of the game will not always be the better team. They will, however, have been the better team today for the crucial four quarters of regulation play. They will have been luckier with crucial decisions, wind gusts, coin tosses, camera flashes, shoe laces, line judge angles, 30 second commercial break placements and a myriad of the million instances that can affect the outcome of a football game.

AH, who am I kidding I’m still a Saints fan. It started when I was in my teens and nothing has changed except for their record this year allows me some pride. Will it continue…….who knows? The Saints aren’t known for stringing winning seasons together. However this year they are known for playing hard hitting Football and having a QB that doesn’t fold. He plays every down like it’s the pivot point of the game. He is only allowed to shine because of  a management decision that allowed a coach to procure an offensive line that can allow Mr. Drew the seconds required to function as planned.

So enjoy the commercials. I always do and maybe my team will win? Maybe there will be some desert racing on Speedvision and I’ll sneak out of the party early.
