Paranormal Underground
In yesterday’s blog, I discussed our most recent visit to the site of the avalanche/railroad disaster at Wellington. I had some time to review two of the recorders (there is still a third awaiting review). Here are the audio anomalies I have discovered thus far.
The first two occurred after dinner. We had a picnic in the parking lot, which left the kids in very high spirits. It was about 8:15 and approaching dusk. The kids were being playful as we headed down the path, and I told them to get their sillies out, because as soon as we hit the snowshed, it was serious business. What followed was them being goofy – mostly things like “that’s what she said” jokes (what did you expect – we had three teens and one tween?) and a lot of laughing. I caught this little voice, which I’ve caught on three separate occasions on the H4, which I was carrying. It said two things, one right after another. I have ruled out the kids as a the source of the voice.
This next one occurred a few minutes later. The kids had quieted down and were standing all together and reading one of the interpretive signs along the edge of the trail. This was captured on the Olympus DS-40, which one of the kids had in her pocket. You will hear something that nobody said (the kids were, for once, being quiet), and Jim was walking along behind us with the video camera. You will hear him at the end of the clip from about 20 yards back call out to us to wait for him.
Update 8/19/09: On review of another recorder, I think this was Kevin saying something about loving filming.
Finally, it was almost dark. We were all sitting on the overlook outside of the snow shed, getting our gear ready to go so that we could go back into the snow shed. We were discussing how long after dark we would stay when you hear this voice insert itself into our conversation. This was also captured on the DS-40.
I think these are all the same voice – well one may be different – but at least three seem to be the same voice. It also appears to be the same voice that we’ve captured in previous anomalies here, here, and here.
Here is the full clip of “want to play” and “what are you talking about.” I also hear a voice under ours at about 17 seconds, but can’t make it out. I also should mention that at this time, we were the only ones up there.
