Hmmm… I wish this were larger and clearer so that I could experiment with it in Photoshop. Is this from a TV screen? (There appear to be scan lines.) The way the bright light falls down the center aisle is interesting, as it looks like half of a cross. But, then again, the horizontal bands of light (one wide and one smaller and thinner) in the center aisle, combined with the face and folded hands, could be indications that this is a reflection on glass, and nothing more than a “Pepper’s Ghost” effect.

As an afterthought, if the lines throughout this photograph are not indications that the image was somehow generated electronically or scanned (as in being taken from a television screen or printed from a scanner), it is highly likely that the picture was snapped through a window screen, therefore confirming the presence of glass, reflection and a “Pepper’s Ghost” effect.

It is not uncommon for church interiors to contain partitioned shrines. This photograph could very well have been taken through the glass of one such area.

Wow – good answer. It actually looks as if it was snapped thru a screen!

This photo is quite old. I remember seeing it in print when I was about 10. That was 25 years ago, so no Photoshop. Double exposure would be more appropriate. The blue lines (I haven’t looked for them) would be where somebody has screen-grabbed this image.

Justin, I’ve already told you exactly what it is. It’s a Pepper’s Ghost effect caused by a reflection on a screened glass partition inside the church. The more I look at it, the more I’m sure of it.

It was probably unintentional and the photographer did not notice the face and hands until after developing the picture. And, yes, this appears to be a very old photograph.

Dominic, Everyone has a third eye. I think this is fake. Not on purpose, but still. Look at the rows, and how the three different rows complete the one face. Its reflection.

I can’t see anything…I wish there was like something to show where it was…I saw the face in three rows…
