most of my ocd rituals are now confined to my head: ie i have 'safe' words that i think, stuff like that. i try to not go to restaurants with tablecloths, tho, because if one is crooked i cannot enjoy my meal. and crooked pictures drive me nutz. anything that's 'not as it should be' (in my mind at least /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> ) is trouble for me.

and yeah…MONK made me feel boring and normal. but i defy anyone to not love that charactor, for all his twitches and touching things etc.

when the added the private board for contributing members

i thought i was going to go crazy. i have to be able to "unlight"

all the lights on the main page of forums haha. i couldnt click

on that one and "unlight" it because im not a member yet.

it was driving me crazy until i remembered i could use the

"mark all threads read" button at the bottom /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

oh, and i adored Monk, but i wasnt that happy with the finale…

although i guess it's good to know life just "went on as usual"

One superstition that we used to do as kids was to raise our feet off the floorboards of the car whenever we would cross over railroad tracks. I don't remember why. Another was to whisper whenever we would drive by a cemetary, probably just a way to get us noisy kids to be quiet for a bit. We also use to do the thing when walking with someone and a telephone or sign pole came up. We never split up, but rather we would hold hands tightly and walk together on one side of the pole together. I can't remember ever saying "bread and butter " or "salt and pepper" but we might have!

This reminds me that we used to hold our breath in tunnels. Sometimes when I go through a tunnel I still think I should – but I force myself to breathe.

I wonder if this superstition came about because of old railroad tunnels. When coal engines passed through long tunnels, there was a possibility of suffocation.

We used to raise our hands to the ceiling of the car every time we went over railroad tracks.

And every time we drove through a tunnel, my parents would honk the horn and we'd yell some name out of the window, but I can't remember what it was now. LOL

Love those cute little gargoyle statues that are sold in the garden stores. All over NYC, mostly the churches have gargoyles. They are there to keep evil out.

The New York Times Building

Here is a neat one that was at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, AR:

I think it was built into the fireplace.
