OfflineWhether you are an Archaeologist, a Hypnotist or a buddist you have not been helpful.
The question was not directed at you as you are not involved in wicca as i have already pointed out.

OfflineOnce again – I'm sorry for annoying you with facts and I am sorry that I attempted to steer your questions to places that might actually have some real answers.
Crystals and spooky rituals by moonlight are indeed far more interesting than boring old books with actual useful knowledge in them.
SO MOTE IT BE!!!

OfflineIve been thiking of looking into wicca for a while now. I dont know too much about it ( correct me if im wrong) but from what i can gather it best represents the thinking that would have been followed in pre christian Britain. A oneness with nature that has been forgotten and mostly supressed by other religions. Could you recommend any websites or literature that would be a good starting point??
Well, yes and no. We believe in becoming one and respecting nature and the universe. Everything does tend to revolve around nature and respecting it. But there are many branches of it (much like any religion). I am an Eclectic Witch (which follows no path somewhat like non denominal christians which I used to be). We don't believe any religion is wrong (but we do not believe in the devil except that people believing in him give him power) Any Scott Cunningham book is good. wiccantogether.com is a wiccan/pagan site (its like myspace for us lol), and if you want to just jump in there are many groups and people whom can help you understand it and mentor you. Also, Beginning Wicca (which I can't think of whom writes it right now) is great on the origin of Wicca. magicaschool.com also has great stuff you can take for free (some of it you have to pay) and some courses (which are free) are on the origin and beliefs as well. I have tons of stuff and if you get on wiccantogether I can send you lots lol. (more text then the PMs allow). Basic rule we live by that sums up wicca/pagan: If it harms none, do what you will (cant go wrong with that).
OfflineI am aware that Wicca is not a continuation of pre christian beliefs and that it is a fairly modern 'religion'. If you want to look at pre christian beliefs in Britain you can find evidence of it everywhere ,from Welsh, Gaelic and, Bryttonic literature and folklore, to Catholic symbolism to the King Arthur legends.( if you have a kiss under the mistletoe this christmas you will be partaking in an ancient Celtic tradition, Mistletoe was regarded as a sexual symbol by the druids) . I have seen misinformed people who claim to represent Druidism today, however the only link to the ancient Druids is the actual name 'Druid'. The Druids are thought to have used a form of writing known as Ogham, there are few remaining examples left today as this writing was mainly inscribed on trees. I would like to know more about Wicca because of its link with nature.
Thanks for the enlightening post 'Zen'.
I know all about the position of the woman in Celtic belief systems thanks. Its easy to wikipedia these things or read about them. But its not everyday I get the chance to actually talk with a Wiccan.
I was asking callgirl specificly because she is a Wiccan , if shed like to pm me with some info that would be great.
Thanks for the help again 'Zen' youve been very helpful.
Sorry if the information annoyed you. My degree is archaeology….. y'know…. ancient cultures, history, etc.
If the historical basis of Wicca doesn't interest you try this…

Thanks for the info Chrystal!
I'm sure there is variation between different groups and such, just like any religion.

Offlineonce when checking back into the hospital, caitie, when asked the question re: religion answered 'druid'. threw the old girl into caniptions (sp?)!
of course, when the psychologist visited her room another time (they had to with all teens on pain meds) she was holding her foot in her arms, cradling it, petting it and talking to it like it was her pet. she told me: 'if they want a nut, i'll give 'em one'.
made for some interesting interactions with the powers that be. /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

Good for her. Fight the power!!!
OfflineJimmy Page used to be into the occult quite heavily. Check him out in "It Might Get Loud." He stars with Jack White and "Edge," and Page pretty much now wants to play his guitar, the way Candide just wants to tend his garden.
I watched this a few months ago, loved Page and White which is why I watched. The Edge seemed out of place, though.

OfflineThe Edge is a bit boring; Page was the best here. And when you see Jack White, don't you think Johnny Depp?
Page Rocks, Edge Rocks, lol @ jack white looking like Johnny Depp lol
Met U2 in 82 I think 82, chicago, wish I could of thought of something cool to ask but was too starstruck and in awe of the performance. Edge was the loudest one there. lol

I was thinking of Depp in "Benny and Joon." At what venue did you meet the boys in 82? I might have been there.
