Sorry to bring such an old topic back. Where i live (Chile) there is a legend about a very similar painting, probably from the same author, it also seemed to cause fires in houses but the theories went more like the kid had been sacrificed or something like that and some "analysis" showed some sort of monster eating the boy when you turned the painting as you can see here: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_1KTY.....10gAw/SgYM...0147746fyc8.jpg

In my opinion its something more like "you see what you want to see" but i still wouldn`t want any of those in my house /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I believe in reading about this before, that the boy portrayed in the pictures actually didn't die, at least he lead a normal life supposedly and that the studio didn't burn down. And of course the question begs that if people sent in the pictures, then their houses never burned down after they became aware of them. And with all of those cursed paintings that The Sun had for a time before doing a bonfire for all of them put The Sun's office in jeopardy. Surely with all of those cursed objects in one place and with so many of the "owners" aware inside of their office, then you'd think the office would have been toast.

I call hoax. The paintings were apparently very popular for a time in England and many different artists painted many different ones and was probably an easy hoax to get people scared about.
