Are we now on the verge of having the real truth behind the UFO phenomena revealed?

Through the urging of UFO enthusiast, and the efforts of John Podesta, a former Clinton Chief of Staff and supporter of efforts by the UFO research community to pressure the United States government to release files to the public that could bring light on the simmering allegations of conspiracies and cover-up of the issue of Alien Visitors to our planet, this might someday be a possibility. Podesta, if you'll remember, was a driving force behind the release of over 800 million classified documents into the public domain, one outcome being the Government's 1995 admission of its two-decade-plus involvement in funding highly-classified, special access programs in remote viewing .

Podesta's appointment as head of the then President-elect Obama's Transition Team, as well as fellow UFO enthusiast New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson's expected, at the time, appointment to a Cabinet Post, which he later withdrew his name from, gives hope that this President will further the efforts to get said documents released. Just like his Democratic predecessor, President Bill Clinton, it is hoped that President Obama will be a willing ally of UFO enthusiasts nationwide.

A further side note in this eternal fight between those who want to know, and those who don't want us to know is this. Executive Order 12958, as it is known, was enacted into law by the Clinton Administration. It modified the Freedom of Information Act signed by Lyndon B. Johnson, and set declassification deadlines for classified material and made it harder for politicians to classify information. President George W. Bush enacted Executive Order 13292, which in essence tipped the balance back in the Government's favor, appearing to allow much more information to be classified and for longer periods; the wording is hard to decipher in some areas. It also appears to give more power over classification to the Offices of the President and Vice President.

(wikipedia.org)

For arguments sake, let's say President Barack Obama released Classified documents from our Government proving, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the existence of Extraterrestrial Intelligence visiting our Earth.

How would this change your beliefs concerning our place in this Universe, about religion, and also about life in general?

Also, if the US Government is withholding such information, do you think they are justified in doing so? And why would they choose to do this?

My beliefs would be provisional to what this intelligence has to say, to offer us. Any thinking person realizes that our rapidly expanding universe possibly allows for life beyond our blue orb. But what kind of life? I humbly ask you to expand your scenario.

It would largely depend….I don't believe that my faith would be broken by any means. Our place in this universe is pretty much nowhere anyway. If we are alone, then who are we going to complain about it to? If we aren't, then I don't think that the other intelligence would really care that we thought we were alone so long.

If the government were withholding the info, I couldn't blame them. Is anyone really ready to hear that we are not alone? How many people and cults now are affected by just the THOUGHT of it? Would everything that happens to you in a bad way be blamed on aliens? If I wrecked my car, could I just say that the lights from the starship blinded me, so I couldn't be held accountable?

Realistically, as a society, we aren't anywhere near where we need to be for the government to release such intel. It would destroy us as surely as a planet killer asteroid.

Okay, a little wild speculation here. As some of you might or might not know, I am a writer of fiction, and ideas like this run through my head upon occasion. I don't truly believe this, it is just my mind trying to make sense of why things are happening, coupled with what I have been exposed to.

So, that being said, here's an idea about what is keeping the Government from revealing the truth, and it does go into "Conspiracy Theory" territory. The Government basically has a deal with whatever alien race is involved, for arguments sake let's say the Greys. The deal being, give us specs. for your technology and in return we will let you abduct our citizens, and mutilate our cattle without too much interference.

Then again, maybe the Government knew they would have a hard time stopping them from doing what they wanted to anyway, and so made the best deal that they could with the circumstances presented by the supposed Roswell Crash and subsequent capture of alien visitors/invaders. The reason the Greys are doing this, I assume, is for genetic reasons. For example, they can't procreate.

The Government knows that if we as a nation knew our own Government was letting this happen, we would demand accountability from those responsible. It might be a only a matter of said individuals "passing away" that will allow the truth to be revealed, as you can't hold a dead person physically accountable for past actions.

Then again, they could be part of an intergalactic pharmaceutical company, and we are just the test chimps. /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Or, maybe the next evolutionary step for our species is more mental and spiritual, as opposed to physical. The logical course being those who can't deal with the reality of alien life finding themselves left at the wayside, while those who adapt step into the new millennium with the knowledge that we are not alone, and that we are part of a galactic brotherhood. Just a thought.

I have always just assumed that with the size of the universe, we can't be alone. It would be startling if a UFO landed on my lawn – but it would also give me something concrete. Of all of the other paranormal fields, I think that life on other planets – in any form – is the most likely. That being said, I have no idea whether they can travel intergallacticlally or not. Certainly Stanton Friedman believes so. I've talked with him quite extensively and he believes that what he's seen comprises evidence. I haven't seen it, so I can't judge it. It's just another thing that I have absolutely no idea about the truth of.

According to Friedman, the MAJESTIC-12 documents show proof that the government has covered up UFOs. Years ago, Jimmy Carter promised that he would declassify info about UFOs. He didn't. Is it because there was nothing to declassify? No idea….just thinking….I guess we'll see what happens.

I don't doubt that there is extraterrestrial life out there -- and intelligent life at that. I also believe that our planet has been visited by this intelligent extraterrestrial life. Why do I believe this? Well … I have read a great deal of material that supports this idea, as well as have talked to several people who experienced the alien abduction phenomenon and researched the alien phenomenon first hand. While I cannot present direct scientific evidence to you to support my opinion, I believe that that evidence is out there.

Government coverup? Definitely a possibility! /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Oh I certainly agree that the next "evolutionary" step is spiritual. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I suppose though, that the thought of being in a galactic "brotherhood" is a little off, for me. In a brotherhood, one doesn't abduct their brothers, mutilate their animals and do the numerous other nefarious things that aliens are accused of. It seems to me that in a brotherhood, one should help and guide the brother. Show them new ways of doing old things. Help the brother fix the mistakes of the past in order for them to thrive in a "New millennium". So far, I have seen no evidence of this, which leads me to ask the question, "If they are so advanced, why aren't they so advanced?"

Just my thought.

I really love this debate Sithy and Gryph … motivation and purpose. It's rather baffling to me. I've read both viewpoints and heard first-hand accounts from the abductees, some saying the aliens are helping, while others saying they are hurting. hmmmm …

When governments are involved, whether interstellar or our own, the end result is usually an indigenous population being taken advantage of to some degree, even to the point of being treated like second-class citizens. Native Americans being one example. Maybe we are not as far advanced in their minds, and are thus almost akin to animals, savages so to speak. We really have no idea where they are on their maturity as a species. As has been proven by our own country, superior technology does not denote spiritual, or mental maturity.

When I say a Galactic Brotherhood I speak of more than just the few species we may have encountered so far. I would hope that not all life out there is as cold and unfeeling as the Greys are said to be at times. Then again there could be worse. Even the Greys could have other, more sinister motives.

Love ya' too Gryph, I hope you stick around and post. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

The problem with the conspiracy scenario is one now has to offer evidence for two claims: we've been visited by alien intelligence, and this visitation had been covered up, perhaps globally. Understand that at the UN, members can't agree about parking spaces.

Parking spaces!

Sad and ridiculous, but true.

But true. Mystical, where are our priorities?

I'm afraid to post this for fear of the Monkey Man's wrath … but here it goes …

Octomom the Musical: Soon to be onstage eight days a week (okay, just two)

Source: http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatc…..e-mus.html

What do you get the woman who has everything (including a potential overseas TV deal, a name trademark, and a uterus the size of Cincinnati)? Her own parody musical, Popwatchers!

The L.A.-based Cabaret Voltaire is currently casting the role of Nadya Suleman, the woman who infamously incubated her own tiny rugby team earlier this year, for its Octomom the Musical, which will start a limited 10-week run on Friday and Saturday nights, beginning June 19.

In an interview, Chris Voltaire told EW that the show will be "a fast-paced musical comedy about the unprecedented times America is in -- with Octo as the main symbol, since she is the icon du jour. Think SNL, but with a throughline tying things together." As for the musical bits, he says, "the show is always going to be different -- special guests! surprises! flying babies! -- and there will definitely be singalongs."

So what kind of actress, pray tell, will they be seeking for the role? "A great singer, pole-dancer, and child-rearing comedienne willing to exercise and pump up her lips…Angelina Jolie is obviously the look here," claims Voltaire. But also, he adds (tongue seemingly wedged pretty cozily in cheek), someone who "is not coming in and pre-judging Octo, that's really important. She's an American, a patriot, and she's trying to help the country in the only ways she knows how. She's an au naturel stimulus package!"

What do you think, readers? Would you be willing to stimulate L.A.'s theater economy with your octo-dollars? Or would you pay this overly-fertile phenomenon to go away?

But doesn't the idea that if they exist they would have to be masters of technology that is thousands of years ahead of ours denote at least some more maturity as a species?

I certainly agree with you that the human race has done some VERY silly things to each other in the past, but in the few thousands of years that we have recorded our history, we have already made huge strides towards global peace…even though there are terrible things being done right now, do you think that we would allow another extermination like the Nazi's did to the Jews? Could you honestly say that the amount of warfare has increased? Another example would be cruelty to animals…have we become worse or better since…say the 1800's? Dogs and cats are certainly lower than us…

So I think that if WE can move forward as far as we have in a blink of an eye, another life form and civilization would have to be ahead of us in maturity.

My best attempt at a compromise between our viewpoints would be that they may have a different moral code. Murder, kidnapping and vivisection may be commonplace to them….which is bloodcurdling in and of itself…To a human psychologist, possibly aliens would simply be sociopaths…

And I will stick around to post…so far this is WAY easier than the last host…

What do you guys think is/was really going on at Area 51? Do you believe it's the heart of the conspiracy theory as far as UFOs and our government's possible involvement OR is it what the government has been claiming that it USED to be a stealth technology research area. I've also heard claims that it's not as active as it once was but still heavily guarded. What do you think?

I think Area 51 was a Red Herring put out there to confuse the Conspiracy Theorist. Plus, the Groom Lake Facility is reported to be located beyond Area 51, so maybe Area 51 is just a front for what is really going on. They can say it is a "stealth technology research area" all they want, and support that statement with a few glimpses of supposed experimental aircraft, when in all actuality the real secret stuff is going on further away from prying eyes.

IMO any place that would have snipers on the hilltops on the road going into it is hiding some serious stuff.

I lean toward thinking that extraterrestrial UFOs were researched somewhere around Area 51. I also heard they moved a lot of this research to Colorado, but I don't know much about it.
