the government didnt want it getting out so they went with

the "weather balloon" story.

Skeptics wouldn't be convinced even if they were abducted.

Statistics, probabilities and polls and can be made to say anything that suits the person creating them. The best course to take on a case like Roswell is to make a close study of it yourself. There's tons of material out there from numerous viewpoints.

I'm sure there are plenty of suggestions here from both sides of the argument if anyone needs source material to study.

I've studied the Roswell case extensively and have drawn my own conclusions. I believe that ultimately it's the best course to take.

I believe the witnesses involved it all UFO stories are either genuinely mistaken or have a personal agenda.......

My thought process on aliens visiting us:

The probability of life existing somewhere in the universe at some point in time --- highly likely....

Probability of lifeforms evolving into an extremely intelligent species ---- possible? -- We are only a meteor away from extinction....... Does life anywhere have enough time to advance that far??

The probability of said lifeforms living at this point in time (or finding us in time, if they could travel in time) ---- extremely unlikely.....

Chances they could find us in this vast universe --- extremely unlikely.....

The size of both time and space are mind boggling, the chance of technologically advanced life finding us at this point in time is infinitesimal........

If you were to take the life of the Earth and compare it to a year -- the first humans would only show up at noon on Dec. 31.

Now- the chances of the gov't covering up top secret high altitude experiments, 8 years before the first flight of the high altitude, U2 spy plane --- extremely likely.........

I believe the situation involved ETs. Most people who attempt to debunk it buy into the government story involving weather balloons.

I agree. The first accounts were fairly accurate. Then the government decided to step in and come up with the ridiculous story about weather balloons. The account from Jesse Marcel's son about him bringing materials into the home and his recollection about such items did not match the cover up description of a weather balloon. There were many eyewitness accounts from the hospital area on the base also. /ohmy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I think the gov't took the alien story and used it to divert attention from what was really going on. Spy planes, atmospheric testing, high altitude exploration type stuff.........

Even the Russians believed the UFO stories.........

Too many witness accounts.

Too many cases of the government trying to shut people up.

So one of the things I saw was a bit on Roswell on Unsolved Mysteries. I have to say - I always sort of thought Roswell was much ado about nothing until I interviewed Stanton Friedman last year (here's the issue with the article in it). He laid out a case that at least made me wonder if there was something to it. I'm curious as to what others think about Roswell. A whole lot of nothing or is there something to it?
