In California there is a location known as "The Devil's Race Track," known for it's famous 'moving' rocks. This location is easily found on the internet along with many theories as to why the rocks move. Tracks are found leading miles from the apparent dragging marks rocks leave on the sand over night, some rocks are way too big and heavy for a person to move. Some of the theories include the wind blowing them, although I don't see how a 50 pound racks move a mile in a night from sand.
Despite the rocks supposedly being cursed if taken from their land, and the fact that it is technically illegal, >> my sister grabbed some of the rocks and brought them home. I set two of the rocks up in a tiny "zen garden" inside joking I was racing them. A week passed and nothing happened, then yesterday morning an hour and a half since I had last looked at them, one of the rocks had a drag mark over 3 times it's size. I can't figure out how it happened though. Then when I came home way later the rock had moved again, but this time it had gone in a 90 degree angle from it's first path. A few hours ago I passed by it and found it once again made a 90 degree turn and is going back to it's original destination, leaving a funny curve in the sand. I took some picture of the rocks two day journey, but of course there's no way to prove I didn't just move a rock in sand and take funny pictures of it. I'm not asking you to believe me, but can anyone think of any reason why the rock is moving?
By the way, the other rock in the zen garden hasn't moved at all, curious?

Whoever said 'nothing is impossible' never tried nailing Jell-o to a tree.

Here is some info on the rocks and the location, I would like to point out that this site lists the 'mandatory' factors that allows the rocks to move, my rock does not have a saturated surface, a clay bottom, or any form of wind. Just a wooden container with some sand in it.

I've seen a tv special on that a time ago....interesting....I'd personally put a camera on the rocks and see what the footage says....

I saw a special on this as well. Hands down one of the more interesting oddities out there. I agree- set up a camera. What an experiment that would be!

Yea, I think I am gonna set up some kinda camera, and to answer HeidiAnn67 question, I do not live alone and did consider someone was simply playing a joke on me, but the first time it moved there was no one home at the time, and after that I decided to simply place it in a locked room. What's amusing is they have decided I'm the one playing a practical joke on them.

It will be very interesting to see if you can catch the rock in motion. Keep us posted.

Whoa this caught my attention...i would love to know if the rocks were finnally caught on tape while moving. As for explanations...well there are beans that "jump" when placed on sunlight because of the little larva that is inside of them but i doubt that is the case with a rock.
