OfflineI think this topic fits under this catagory….
I've been intrigued with Numerology for awhile. It seems to be very accurate- much more accurate than Astrology or such. And I know that many US Presidents and other world leaders have used it throughout their lives- good guys and bad.
Now, I'm not one for Ouiji Boards, Tarot readings or Reiki, but there's just something about Numerology that fascinates me. Does anyone know much about it? The mere fact that just by changing your name you can alter your future is very impressive- and I must say, my reading before marriage and after marriage is freakishly accurate. I didn't even realize that I changed- but I definitely have.
Any insight or knowledge is appreciated. I'd really like to learn more about it and how it works. Thanks!
OfflineI went to this site …. BIRTHDAY INTERP
I checked out myself – my wife and my three kids. All were either 'generic' and/or in the case of my wife – son and one daughter DEAD WRONG.
I did some other web-search and realized .. this is similar to "AURORA READINGS" … you cannot find anyone that agrees to what the colors mean.
Just like astrology – I have a friend that is a "MASTER ASTROLOGER" and he did a 'chart' on my wife and I, back when I told him I was engaged. He did the chart and told me ..>> DO NOT DO THIS!! IT IS DOOMED! /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />
34 years later and three kids, 2 granddaughters .. we are happy and must be doing something right with 34 years behind us!
BOTTOM LINE – If they keep it generic, it's pretty safe to make a hit. But when you start getting less generic and more specific … then "DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER!!!"
Oh well …. I guess the numbers were wrong in this one.
OfflineJJB, Jilla was talking about Names though, not Birthdays.
I found a site and did my name. This is my current name…(in blue is my comments)
Your number is: 1
The characteristics of #1 are: Initiating action, pioneering, leading, independent, attaining, individual.
The expression or destiny for #1:
A number 1 Expression denotes the skilled executive with keen administrative capabilities. You must develop the capacity to be a fine leader (I would never call myself a leader), sales executive, or promoter. You have the tools to become an original person with a creative approach to problem solving, and a penchant for initiating action. Someone may have to follow behind you to handle the details, but you know how to get things going and make things happen. You have a good mind and the ability to use it for your advancement. Because of these factors, you have much potential for achievement and financial rewards. Frequently, this expression belongs to one running a business or striving to achieve a level of accomplishment on ones talents and efforts. You have little need for much supervision, preferring to act on your own with little restraint (I like to be supervised, I want that guidance) . You are both ambitious (I wouldnt call myself ambitious) and determined. Self-confident (LMAO – anyone that knows me is laughing too) and self-reliant must be yours, as you develop a strong unyielding will and the courage of your convictions.
Although you fear loneliness, you want to be left alone (i cant emphasize enough how much i HATE being alone). You fear routine and being in a rut (I THRIVE on routine). You often jump the gun because you are afraid of being left behind.
The negative attributes of the 1 Expression are egotism (i'm not even close to being egotistical) and a self-centered approach to life. This is an aggressive number and if it is over-emphasized it is very hard to live with. You do not have to be overly aggressive to fulfill your destiny. The 1 has a natural instinct to dominate and to be the boss; adhering to the concept of being number One. Again, you do not have to dominate and destroy in order to lead and manage.
Your Soul Urge number is: 3
A Soul Urge number of 3 means:
With the Soul Urge number 3 your desire in life is personal expression, and generally enjoying life to its fullest. You want to participate in an active social life and enjoy a large circle of friends. You want to be in the limelight (hate the limelight), expressing your artistic or intellectual talents. Word skills may be your thing; speaking, writing, acting, singing. In a positive sense, the 3 energy is friendly, outgoing and always very social.
You have a decidedly upbeat attitude that is rarely discouraged; a good mental and emotional balance (haha).
The 3 Soul Urge gives intuitive insight, thus, very high creative and inspirational tendencies. The truly outstanding trait shown by the 3 Soul Urge is that of self-expression, regardless of the field of endeavor.
On the negative side, you may at times become too easygoing and too optimistic (optimistic??? how funny is that), tending to scatter forces and accomplish very little. Often, the excessive 3 energy produces non-stop talkers (ok, this one is true haha). Everyone has faults, but the 3 soul urge doesn't appreciate having these pointed out.
Your Inner Dream number is: 7
An Inner Dream number of 7 means:
You dream of having the opportunity to read, study, and shut yourself off from worldly distractions. You can see yourself as a teacher, mystic, or ecclesiastic, spending your life in the pursuit of knowledge and learning. (while i work in a school its NOT my dream to be a teacher haha)
I havent done my maiden name to see what I was supposidly like before I married
OfflineOkay, I just read the little blurb under where you enter your name and IT says that you go by your birth
name, that changing your name (like when marrying) has no effect on it (which goes against what Jilla was
saying). I wont copy/paste the whole thing again, but using my Maiden Name was so far off of who I am /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />
This sums it up…
The number 8 is very materialistic and also very desirous of status and power. Neither of these drives are inherently negative unless they are taken to an extreme. You must avoid the tendency to strain after money, material matters, status, or power, to the detriment of the other important factors in your life.
That's about as far from me as you could EVER get /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

OfflineThere are a lot of really lousy sites on numerology with some very lame "readings". This is the calculator I've used recently- http://www.circle-of-light.com…..ology.html
The explanations of what each number means helps a lot. It explains that each number plays a different role- who you really are, how people see you, how you want to be seen ect.
And for detailed descriptions I've used this page- http://www.ofesite.com/spirit/…../numer.htm
That is only for the life path number.
My understanding of numerology is that it's the combination of all calculations that make you- you. Just your life path alone won't offer any insight.
This was also a pretty good site that does the calculations and has definitions- http://www.cafeastrology.com/n…../index.htm
Not all sites are created equal, that's for certain, so I'm not talking about 'canned' numerology. And ultimately, whether we live up to our abilities or not is our responsibility.
For example- my husband didn't fit his reading for most of his life. Between struggling with anxiety and a crazy family, he was all off course in many ways. By the time we got married he started changing- in a good way. I was the support he needed. His numerology reading is exactly who he is now, and he's much happier in his life. BTW- only recently did I do his report, so this is all in retrospect. I never told him to "change" his ways because numerology said he should be someone else. If I had done his reading 7 years ago, I would have just thought numerology was completely wrong and a scam.

Yeah, from what I understand, that's hooey. Your maiden name plays a role, as well as any nickname you go by. If you go by a nickname more than your real name, that's the name you're supposed to use- or you can do both/all to find a happy medium. That's what makes us all unique /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

OfflineI found the site to tell me – "You were concieved on a TUESDAY" …>> REALLY?
What if I was born slighly "early" or "late" ???
My son for instances was thought to be 3 weeks LATE. But when the varinex (sp?) The doctor went .. wow, he is 3 week EARLY!
But at 10 lb 5 oz … his mom was fine that he was 3 weeks early …
So that just sort of told me … Really? You can tell me the day of the week … ???
Plus I happen to know when my mom was active with me … and it was not a Tuesday. It was a Friday Night. <- Her words.
They told me it was in January … " Your date of conception was on or about 12 January 1954 which was a Tuesday. "
Mom told me it was Late Feburary. Oops.
Oh well … Being into Genealogy and enjoy details, my mom found it funny that I would want to know these things. I love "trvia". /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

That makes no sense to me then. That sounds like a convienient excuse they give if you dont "fit" the numbers.
If we have control over it all then what is the point of Numerology. We arent really "pre-destined" to be anything,
because we dont necissarily "live up to it" (ie: the reading is completely off)

EXACTLY …. I read that too and almost spit out my coffee. I mean … REALLY?
I guess it's the same as: RESULTS NOT TYPICAL … Results my vary.

OfflineEXACTLY …. I read that too and almost spit out my coffee. I mean … REALLY?
I guess it's the same as: RESULTS NOT TYPICAL … Results my vary.
I'm a little confused- so numerology is only accurate(or viable) if it dictates our lives perfectly? I honestly always looked at it as an influence, no different than other outside(and inside) forces that effect us on a day to day basis.
All I'm saying is that I highly doubt that John Wayne would have made it like he did if he was still Marion Robert Morrison- and it's not because his birth name was too long for the marquee. His name change was an influence over his career- just as his hard work and dedication were, and the company he kept. Maybe it was just luck, or maybe it was the combination of many influences. I tend to think that everything in this universe is connected- numbers included.
Anywho, I've got a ton of reasons I'm interested in numerology. I'm not 100% sure about it, which was why I came here, but I do think there's something to it. And again, I'm not talking about the canned reports you find on all those goofy sites.
OfflineThe below is meant as "FOOD FOR THOUGHT" only.
As with anything, what is an acceptable rate of "Success" -vs- "Failure"???
Let me explain. I have a guy in a Yahoo! Group that "loves his Pendulum". But his success rate is less then 15% aka 85% failure. This was consistent, with several tests.
A guy 8 years ago claimed to be a "Medical Empath – Psychic". He literally haunted me for 5 years telling me I had serious Kidney Cancer. (He could not except the fact that he was wrong.) We later found his "Medical Empath" success rate was less then 10%.
I have a friend that is into Astrology. His charts for me, my wife and children has been wrong a whole lot more time than not.
I ask friends this question: If you were asked to invest your hard earned $$ into this, with the expectation for a real RETURN with your invested $$ …>> would you? Or is this an 'emotional drug'? Where one looks for a "good feeling" only?
I posted it this way in another forum:
The "Subjective Psychic" or … (this) -- is it any better then 'drug pushers'.
I mean this, except that obviously they are not selling drugs – but they do 'sell' something that more people then not get addicted to: FEELINGS – specifically – 'Feel Better About Yourself' or the FBAY-FIX.
Like drugs this "fix" is a very temporary and thus they more then not go to find another "Subjective Psychic" to give them another "Fix".
In other words, they 'sell' emotional highs, nothing more and a whole lot less!
There is a very common line that proves this point:
I cannot tell you how many times I have heard/read this line. If I had a dime for each time, I could take my wife out to a very nice 'night on the town'!
I want you to think about this … they can NOT and will NOT offer anything of SUBSTANCE … ONLY "IF it FEELS right…"
So what does Numerology – Name or DOB really offer? Nothing if you read the fine print. That tells you the real truth, if you will.
I totally understand "Faith" – "Belief" and such. But it's like an "investment" of money. Do you expect a return or is this 'disposable' income?
Personally my belief is no "disposable" income … I look at it as an INVESTMENT with which I expect a 'reasonable' return.
Sorry for the "Soap Box" .. take it for the honest 'spirit' it is meant. Please. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

OfflineFor me, things like numerology and astrology are a little difficult to swallow. In most cases, it just all seems so general that it is easy to say "oh yah – that's me all right." But, as I always say – anything is possible. I just haven't seen anything that convinces me yet.
See this is the problem.
When these things stay – "Generic" they are safe and yes one will find themselves in….
Well this guy's pendulum last year told me, "Jj it says you are a good person." Okay – can we call this safe? Sure.
Besides what is the definition of a "good person"?
It told him I was not an alcoholic. <- Again true, but I do enjoy a glass or two of wine once and awhile with dinner or after dinner. (For some that would be 'bad' and I know by some I would be called a potential alcoholic. "Why do you need the wine in the first place?" I simply tell them, "In all my 56 years of life I have never been drunk, let alone 'tipsy'."
Then when he started to get into more specifics … his failure rate rose. 85% failure … but that did mean he got 10% right. The other 5% where written off because too generic.
So even Astrology and Numerology and such might get 'one or two %' right … but so does random guessing.
A Tarot card reader told one friend, "Something bad will happen to you in the next 3 months." Well define "bad"? For her it was a fender bender. No real damage, just a fender of her car got dented a good one. So "something bad did indeed happen". But then I asked her, "What else 'bad' happened during this 3 month period?" She couldn't think of anything, until I asked her, "Did you loose any money?" -> "YES!" "Did you miss any appointment running late?" -> "YES!" "Did you drop anything, here and there that annoyed or frustrated you?" -> "OMG!! Yes!!"
I basically told her, "See something "good" and "bad" happens every day in our lives. It's just what do we see as "bad" or "good", is the question. Now had this gal said, "You will be in a fender bender….", that would have been significant."
Again the question is – If one treats these like they would investing money with the expectation of a decent return and after reading the FINE PRINT …. would one actually take their hard earned money and invest it?
Offline
OfflineI have looked at many different astronomical sign readings and all have applied to me more or less all general info nothing specific
MM – that is exactly the whole point – You make it just broad enough to "fit" more people then not. If you start getting into specifics .. the 'size' begins to become less and less accurate. The idea is to 'sell' it (make it fit) as many people as possible, not as little people as possible. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
It's all in the FINE PRINT: Results not typical and individuals may not see the same results.
OfflineAgain the question is – If one treats these like they would investing money with the expectation of a decent return and after reading the FINE PRINT …. would one actually take their hard earned money and invest it?
sadly there are lots of people who do believe enough in these people to shovel out boat loads of money to get their insight /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
