Do you think that the rest of America would be as accepting as this though?

That's my point, although there are a few that would be fine with stamps such as this, I feel like the majority would wet their pants trying to put a stop to it.

Well, if there are as many people against it as you seem to think, then at least any protest should bolster the economy through the sale of Depends. /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

You are absolutely right. Most would. We're not very tolerant of people who believe differently than we do in this country.

I think the opposite. I think most would be accepting of the stamp.

You mean absolute fungelical people would just say "cool, mohammed looks great on that stamp"?

I don't see it. These are the same types of people who bomb clinics and protest gay rights rallies. The same people who blame the Haitians for the quake and Louisiana for the hurricane.

You really see those types of people accepting it?

Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try.

Human beings are xenophobic. We fear that which is different from ourselves. Instead of educating ourselves, we'd rather squash it.

My thinking is that people have a choice to buy a stamp or not.

Maybe I'm wrong, and people would protest the stamp. But still, I don't think a majority would.

I dunno – people also want to force their beliefs on others. Not all – but many. I don't see a whole lot of "live and let live" going on out there.

i am afraid i have to agree with the naysayers, cheryl: i don't think anyone have to worry about buying a stamp with mohammed on it because i don't think it would ever get that far. the protests would be so loud and vehement that it would be scrapped almost as soon as it was suggested.

pat robertson would grab his chest on screen and the 700 club members would be calling their representatives before he could begin gasping for air….

Actually, many muslims would also protest the image of Mohammed anywhere…

This is VERY true. They do not depict his image, ever. Remember the Danish guy who printed the cartoon depicting him? The death threats were out of this world.

I am massively surprised that he is still alive today.

I just had a discussion with someone at work today about the Stan Lee stamps, the ones of all his comic book characters on them. They were pretty darn cool.

What happened to stamps just being stamps, you know the same standard stamp.

I agree about the charities, particularly children. One in four go to bed hungry at night.

At a time when people in our country are in such need, why is our government even focusing on this (spending of money).

Honestly I don't care if the person is great or not, just why is it being done during these hard times.

I go to the P. O. what comes out of the machine I take. I had to look at my stamps to see what was actually on them, if asked even after using one I wouldn't know.

I use stamps less know than ever with onlne bill paying, etc.

On the same token, I don't even know how much an individual stamp costs. Mine have the Liberty Bell, and no price.

I take ten bucks with me to the P. O. throw the money in and get change in coin dollars, that I end up giving away as quaters. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Sometimes when I'm there, I still have thoughts of the disgruntled postal workers of years gone by, and get out as quickly as I can.

Mother Theresa on a stamp, Prince Albert in a can where will

the insanity end? The only thing that should ever be on a stamp

is it's cost. As a taxpayer I don't like supporting the arts through the

creation of government sponsored art. JMHOTW

You know – there is some validity to this argument. In the state of Washington, there is a law that all properties owned by the state must have a 1% line item for art. This includes in prisons. Our state is in dire financial straights and the state still spends money on art for public facilities.

If you want a different viewpoint about this woman, may I suggest "The Missionary Position: Mother Theresa in Theory and Practice" by Christopher Hitchens.

I'd post some relevant quotes but fear those that would become hurt in the late nun's stead.

Completely OT, but welcome back Dawk!

FWIW, you were missed.
