You can even have an afterlife devoid of God.

True also but what would be the point?

Why does there even have to be a point?

What if we die and our spirit becomes energy? Just like our body is reabsorbed to feed the plants, maybe our spiritual energy is used to re-energize the magnetic field around our world. That whole process precludes the need for a God.

Or, what if it is the way I see it, and all is God. It's not God in the general sense, but a God who is present in everything. Like I said before, if God created good, he must have also created evil. God is both. To me he is a part of everything that was, everything that is, and everything that will be. He is the murderer as well as the victim, he is the one who triumphs just as much as he is the one who loses it all. God is everywhere. God "is".

Just some viewpoints on God.

We could go on with this forever but your beliefs are somewhat different than mine, and that's ok. That's what makes the world go round. /cool.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Though I tend to be vocal about what I believe, I also encourage others to follow their own hearts and go with what works best for them. To each his own as they say.

Maybe none of it matters and when we die that's it, we are gone forever. I hope that is not the case, but in the end I guess it doesn't matter either way. In the same way that funerals are for the living more than for the dead, maybe the thought of the possibility of an afterlife is somehow a way to give ourselves hope that this life matters toward some sort of spiritual growth, that it counts for something other than living once and being gone forever.

We are born, we live, we die, and then what? To me death is the great unknown, and is the main reason why I am here, and also why I helped co-create this site, namely to find out more about where I will be when I die. Though I guess we will all know in the end, or not, in the case of Nihilism.

I can certainly provide evidence for claims I make. Evolution, germ-theory of disease . . . what I can't do is prove a negative, though I can offer argument.

No one on this board has the first clue as to my world-view. No one. That I do not find belief without evidence a virtue is shared by a great many.

Do beliefs have evidence?

Isn't that what makes them beliefs.

Actually evolution is still just a theory. Prove to me 100% that men evolved from some kind of ape hybrid. The thing is you can't, just as I can't prove that there is a God.

The fact still remains that I have to prove nothing to you because I don't give a rats a$$ whether you believe in God or not. Believe, or don't believe, what you want, it matters not to me.

No one on this board has the first clue as to my world-view. No one. That I do not find belief without evidence a virtue is shared by a great many.

Nor do you have a clue fully as to my world-view. As for those who share your views, maybe you should spend your time on a board that caters more to your taste rather than constantly asking for evidence of those who believe in God here, a belief which you obviously don't share. It just seems that many views here upset you so much. It seems to me your time would be better served elsewhere instead of wasting it here. I'm sorry, but it is not my responsibility, nor anybody else's, to explain to you how we think the universe might work. Find it out for yourself.

I personally am tired of your constant harassment of those who believe differently than you and the condescending nature with which you speak to others. As an owner of this forum, I originally created Paranormal Underground as a place where people could come and post their viewpoints unmolested, without fear of harassment and ridicule, and with the realization that the opinions presented here are just that, and not declarations of how the universe works. It seems you can't handle an opinion different from your own, and continually harass people to prove to you that their viewpoint is supported by evidence. If that is what you're looking for, find another forum.

That makes two of us!

I've yet to figure out his burning need for proof that God exists. You'd think if he were as comfortable as he says he is in his own beliefs he wouldn't care what others believe or why they believe it.

It was perfectly clear by his post that he came to this thread for the sole purpose of disrupting the conversation and harassing those participating in it.

"And none of the past dozen or so posts have one lick of evidence in their favor." "Good thing because you can't".

Clearly he is an unhappy man and derives great joy out of making those around him equally unhappy.

Lets hope he takes your suggestion and finds another forum better suited to his beliefs and needs!

Asking for evidence is harassing behavior? Sounds like drama to me. Someone once said if you don't want ridicule, don't have ridiculous beliefs. I'd bet you can't find one instance of me ridiculing anyone here (besides myself) but if you can go ahead and ban me.

while i have seen a certain amount of intolerance here it generally comes from those with deeply held beliefs. it is human nature to defend that which moves us the most passionately.

perhaps we need to insert a disclaimer into some threads, ie: no contrary questions/comments allowed, just posts re: our beliefs. (i am not being snarky; maybe people need a place to post exactly what they feel/believe in without having to justify/explain said beliefs.)

dawkins talks to everyone the same way. if he didn't, i would see it as condescending. we communicate how we communicate. i find this much more honest than someone who posts something intended to be offensive but then types a smilely face so he can pretend he meant nothing by it. i am not defending him as he has no need for me to do so, but i am surprised at the anger generated and suggestions of someone not agreeing with one's viewpoint being invited to leave.

i am not good at this, i know. so i ask for tolerance now.

I think what he did in this thread is considered flamming which is against the forum rules.

In my opinion, just because he speaks to everyone this way isn't an excuse for his antagonistic behavior. He's a grown man and should have acquired the skills necessary to discuss his beliefs or views, or those of others, in a respectful manner.

I'm certainly not hopeful he will leave because his views differ from mine, (in fact, I didn't say what my beliefs were or if his views differed from mine) but because of the way he harasses and antagonizes those with beliefs different from his.

There have been plenty of instances where you have referred to those who might have views different than yours as ignorant and stupid, especially in the area of religion and God. The mere fact that one can't state beliefs on this site without you then demanding to see proof makes for a very harassing environment, an environment I really don't want to foster here. We can't even discuss said ideas without you jumping in and making it uncomfortable at times to post.

I'm just laying it out here for you since you obviously have no clue as to why we feel you are here only to cause dissention and troll the forum. Why must you continually run rampant over the beliefs of others? Why constantly ask for evidence or proof from others when you know that no evidence or proof for said beliefs exist?

As for drama, there is usually no drama until you interject your obvious (to you) superior viewpoints into the discussion, and trust me you make it loud and clear that you think that you are smarter than most of our posters. I have tried to be understanding, and you have been given multiple opportunities to modify your behavior toward your fellow members and follow our forum rules.

No, I really don't want to ban anyone, but I will for the betterment of our Website. You may not see the way you go about your questioning as harassing, but I have had many PMs from those who find that your behavior makes it very uncomfortable for them to post here. When it comes down to it, this forum just doesn’t seem to be the right fit for you.
