Over the years I have heard a lot of people state that everything from drugs to high EMF's and more are causing the human mind to create feelings and experiences that don't really exist.

Many claim that even near death experiences are being caused by drugs or stress among other things, etc. They have even explained away the psychic experiences had by astronauts riding in a centrifuge machine and there are a multitude of things that are being blamed on EMF's by the guys on TV. (by the way that's false) I am sure you can add many more things too.

Now here is my question…

What if these things aren't causing these people to have the experience.

What if these things are ALLOWING the people to actually experience what can't be experienced in the normal human state?

For that question to be answered, you'd have to study each situation. For instance, if the psychic experience from being slung around is of seeing the near future, then it should be taken seriously, recorded right then and there and then if the event happens, even if it isn't exactly the same it should be recorded. This should be done over by a few more subjects, maybe some with similar backgrounds and some with different backgrounds.

As for drugs, that would most likely always be an unknown, unless its possible for many people to record the exact same thing under controlled circumstances as drugs alter your PERCEPTION of reality generally. So these people are actually experiencing a different reality than everyone else. Because of this, it is considered invalid and "not real", but if everyone experienced the same reality at the same time, then that may add validity that in our "normal" state our sense aren't heightened enough.

Hope that makes sense.

That does make sense Zaxxon. Case in point: psychodelic drugs i.e. acid.

A whole room full of people in Timothy Leary's black-lit living room all drop the same amount at the same time.

One sees musical notes flying through the air.

One sees the carpet come to life. Etc. on the pleasant experiences.

One, however, sees the most horrifying creatures coming out of the lamp to rip his/her flesh open and stomp on his/her internal organs and condemn him/her to a living hell.

The combinations are infinite and it is very possible that unless information is fed to the subjects no two would ever have the same experience.

(I think I know a couple of folks that might be willing to be test subjects though! /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> )

I've seen 2 full-bodied apparitions & also has an aural experience, and NO drugs were involved. Neither was my state of mind in question. I think the doubters are reaching, imo.

Here is my take on your question. As for drugs allowing the experience to happen, in most cases definitly yes, they are opening an area of the mind that is not accessible normally. If you consider the mind journeys or vision quests of Shahmans or Medicine Men , they can enter a different realm, dimension or reality when such drugs as ayahuasca or peyote are used. But on the other side of the coin, many people including some Shahmans do not need the influence of drugs to enter that state of awarness once they learn how to access that part of the mind. To be able to shut down all "mind chatter", or by reaching a state where only one thought is focused on is the key to being able to see, hear or experience things that are considered to not be "normal" for most. I hope this helps. What constitites normal or is there such a thing?

Maybe you and I are still in a dream and have not yet awakened....As we speak now, we do not know whether we are awake or dreaming / Chuang Tzu
