OfflineGood point. I need to give my chair some alone time, and I'll peek around the corner and watch it.

That's really interesting stuff. I can't wait to hear more. Have you kept a diary of sorts of what happened and when? There may be a correlation. You could also find out when your home was built, what was there before it. It would shed some light, perhaps, if you found that there was a restaurant on the site. Maybe it was a previous owner.

OfflineI get several desk chairs. Who knows maybe when one is empty, it will turn around.
I agree with Cali Girl about the "behind you", this is very common to use with horses, just as common as saying excuse me, or please watch out.
Horse person manners, so to speak, we use the phrase a lot.
Maybe there was a livery stable on or near your property in the past.
OfflineThat's also what we say at Disneyland, back in the kitchen. Now, if she starts hearing, "Knives behind." she better be scared.

I was re-reading this thread. What does knives behind at Disneyland mean? I have visions of tinker bell flying around with paring knives in both hands? What is really going on in Disneyland?

OfflineWell, when the chef is walking around with knives in the kitchen, they will say "knives behind" constantly so everyone knows they are walking around with knives. That way someone doesn't back up or come around a corner and accidentally cut themselves.
Chefs, and the people they designate, are the only ones allowed to touch knives, whether they are being used or cleaned.

OfflineRe reading this thread and have some to add:
Behind you is a phrase that I use on pretty much a daily basis! In my younger days I worked alot in bars and restaurants. We also used it in stage productions when I was in college when moving sets, etc. Wade and I use it when we work together when moving ladders, tools, etc. Both of us are ready for second cataract surgeries and fairly vision impaired, me on the left side and he on the right. I say that all the time so that I don't surprise him coming from his "blind side". Now, if I could only get him to do the same!
Maybe the chair incident wasn't so much someone moving the chair as someone sitting in the chair and turning it to the desk… was my first thought when I read this thread.
I'm thinking you should do EVP, and maybe set up static cameras. Maybe when no one is home.

T, that is a new perspective on "behind you!" And you are right, it did seem like someone sat in the chair and purposefully turned around in it to face the computer screen more than just touching the chair and moving it. The fact that it was so blatant and "in my face" really shocked me.
Aside from EVP, I like the camera idea.

I think you should tell the ghost, if it sits in your chair it has to do some of your work! lol.
