I'm staring to wonder if there's anyway it could be Jonathan I'm actully hearing. He's been under a lot of stress recently with the visitations (which aren't going well) and the custody hearings. He's reverted back to holding a lot in and his therapist has told me it's become hard to get things out of him. The reason I stared thinking this was because last night Jonathan and I decided to camp out in the living room to watch some thing we recorded on the DVR in there. Jonathan fell a sleep before me and sometime later started mumbling my name in his sleep. A moment or two after he stopped mumbling I heard that voice, His voice, calling me. It was faint and sounded like it was coming from the other side of the house, I could make it out since it was around 2am and the house was quite. I was looking at Jonathan when I heard it and his lips were not moving. If I had to guess it sounded like it was coming from the bathroom. Then I remembered that day with my cousin when we thought his voice sounded like he was in the bathroom then about that time I heard while I was in the bathroom. I stared to think that maybe there was something about the bathroom when i realized that my room is right next to the bathroom.

Then I stared to think about the other times I heard the voice. The first time in the grocery: Jonathan wasn't with me because he was taking a nap and my cousin told me she'd watch him while I was out. When I called the house and Jonathan picked up it sounded like he was groggy and had just woken up. When I was getting in to the shower: I found Jonathan asleep. When I wrote the first post: Jonathan was on his visitation but it was late and he would have been a sleep. Another time I heard it when I was out with my friend: It was late and Jonathan was most likely asleep. In the kitchen with my cousin: Jonathan was asleep.

I decided to ask my cousin more specifics about when she heard him. It turns out by "a few times" she meant twice. The first time she heard him, she said she new it wasn't him because he was taking a nap. I ask he if that was the day I went grocery shopping and after some thought she said yeah, because my phone call woke him up and he was grouchy and she was annoyed at me because she had to deal with it until I got home. The second time she heard him call her name was when he was on his visitation and I was out with my friend. It freaked her out because it was late and she was alone in the house.

It's just kind of blowing my mind. I seems like it only happens when Jonathan's asleep. Like he's looking for me in his sleep. And the times I hear him but I'm not physically in our home he then calls for my cousin who is.

It leaves me with a lot of questions.

Why did my cousin hear him call me? Was it because we were both in the house when it happened? If i is in fact Jonathan somehow reaching out why or how could Mikey and his sister be aware of it or hear it too?

Or is it just a ghost playing a very not funny game.

Has anyone every heard of a child, i guess, telepathically calling for people they're very close with in their sleep?

Before I hit send I went and asked Jonathan if he's ever heard me call him when I wasn't and he just looked at me like I was crazy. There's never been an instance where Jonathan has come to me asking why i was calling him when I wasn't so I think it's safe to assume he hasn't experience the reversal of this.

I can understand why the mimicking of Jonathan is upsetting to you. It may be time for outside intervention, because if it is mimicking Jonathan's voice to you, is it also mimicking yours to him? I don't like that, at all.

The first thing to try is simple. Next time it happens, after you've ascertained it isn't Jonathan, just firmly tell them to knock it off - aloud. State your conditions for co-habitating (don't mimic me or the kid, don't hide my stuff, etc.) When I start hearing Tanner's office chair rolling across the floor upstairs when no one's home, I holler, "Knock it off!" and it usually stops for the moment. It seems simple, but in my house it works. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I'd also consider doing a cleansing. I really like to burn sage (you can get a bundle at any metaphysical store) and take it through my entire house. I go into every corner, and actually move the smoking sage around doors and windows (that is, enclose the edges of the door with the smoke). Once I've burned the sage, I follow the same pattern with sweetgrass smoke. The sage clears the energy but leaves a "vacuum" for other stuff to come in. The sweetgrass invites positive energy to fill the void left by the sage.

Next, as soon as I've done that, I take sea salt and sprinkle it across the outside of all of my door and window thresholds to keep the good energy in and the other stuff out. I actually do this about once a month in my house - and more if the activity picks up. It seems to keep it all calmer. You might want to give it a try and see what happens.

I wonder why they became active again recently?

The other day, I was making breakfast and having a conversation with my cousin (who lives with us). I had wondered out loud if I should make Jonathan's omelet and re-heat it when he wakes up or make one fresh after he does. We had eaten and I was in the middle of washing the dishes when I hear Jonathan call me. Instinctively we both turn in the direction of his voice then laugh at his perfect timing and my cousin joking about how I washing the pan for nothing. I rolled my eyes and called back to him asking what he wanted. When he didn't answer so my cousin got up to see what he was called me for while I started on his breakfast. She first walked to the bathroom, because that where it sounded like he was. She walked out saying "It sounded like he was in the bathroom, right?" She shook her head and waked to his room only to find him still fast asleep.

When she sat back down she made a comment "I'm always hearing that kid in my head." Then she look at me weird and said "You heard him too though." I asked her what she meant by hearing him and she told me that a few time she thought she heard him calling her but he wasn't and once he and I weren't even home. She didn't associate it with the paranormal so I didn't tell her anything about what I had experienced. It may sound silly, but I didn't want to tell her because when she first moved in I told her about Mikey and she was so desperate to see him that she mistook Jonathan for for Mikey once.Bless her heart. So i didn't want her coming to me thinking every sound she heard was this thing saying "I heard it again" I thought my not telling her it would keep her experiences authentic in a way.

Anyway that makes two of us hearing it.

WOW. As i was writing that out I remember that this has happened before, a while ago but it was my moms voice I would hear calling me. Huh... wonder if it's the same thing.

It does seem to want my attention-any attention- but I can't fathom why. But then can anyone really with things like this?

My brother's house has a ghost that sounds exactly like his youngest daughter. She told me "hello" once and I assumed it was my niece until I realized that I was alone in the house and the girls were in school. My mom has heard her call her ("nana, nana") and thought it was my niece but found her sound asleep. That's happened several times. My mom has heard the voice when my niece is not in the house as well.

I can see why it would freak you out, but like MK says, it sounds like something is trying to get your attention. It's kind of creepy that it's using your son's voice, though, in my opinion. Maybe it thinks that will make it less frightening to you?

Wow, it sounds like so much is going on at once. Disembodied voices taking on the voice of someone you is startling. Someone/thing is trying to get your attention!

This is crazy!!

I know, I know long time no see. I really have no excuse except being an adult sucks! Between work; kids and writing I really have no time to myself.

Anyway I came here for a reason, and here it is:

For those of you who know me, you know that I've always had spirits in my home; playful ones who always like to let me know they're there. Two in particular; Mikey, who was very playful with touching; and his sister who like to play with electronics/electricity.

They've been mostly quite for... I would say for little over a year? By quite I mean they don't interact with me anymore. I always here the bumps in the night and see the quick gimps of them running down my hall that let me know their still around. Just no more tucking me in or turning my lights on and off.

The reason why I'm here stared a week ago. I was fitting in grocery shopping in the to the million other things I had to do that day, so to say I had a lot on my mind would be an understatement. I had received an e-mail I was waiting for so I parked my cart to the side so I could reply on my phone when I hear Jonathan call me. So I yell "I'm by the milk." Then go back to writing my reply. Of course I couldn't finish typing because I dropped my phone as the realization that Jonathan is not with me hits. I pick up my phone, put the battery back in and abandon my cart rushing out of the story while trying to call my house. Jonathan pick up and assured me everything is just fine at home. I shake it off and chalk it up to me just being really stressed and being used to Jonathan being with me when I go grocery shopping.

Wednesday night/Thursday morning around 12am: I have one foot in the shower when I hear Jonathan call me. I wrap a towel around myself stick my head out of the door and call "Yeah," a bit annoyed that he's still not asleep but not too much because it's summer. I get no response. I call out "What Jonathan!" still nothing. As any concerned mother of an 8 year old who like to jump around would, I make my way to him. He's not in his room but fast asleep in the living room. This bothered me for two reason. 1) The fact that I clearly head him call me and it turned out he was fast asleep. and 2) Had he called out in his sleep, I wouldn't have been able to hear him because the living room is on the other side of the house. I remember the incident in the grocery story and become a little freaked out.

What made me come here: Jonathan is having his overnight visitation. He's not home. I'm sitting at my computer trying to finish up a chapter when I hear Jonathan call me, this time it sounds like it's coming from out side my open window. I freaked out but then I think, "It's probably Mikey or his sister decided they want to start playing around again."

Right when I think this I feel a little hand on my shoulder and my lights and TV flicker; with a clear message of "That's not us."

I kind of want to cry; I've never been so scared. In the experiences I've had there's, I don't know how to explain it; like you can tell if, whatever it is, has good or bad intentions or if it's just being playful. With this, I have no idea. It just seems...blank. There is nothing odd enough about it to make me think it's NOT Jonathan. I would chalk it up to stress but Mikey and his sister seems aware of it's presents. The fact that It's taking on Jonathan's voice and I first hear it outside of my home... I'm scared and have no idea what to do or think.
