There could any number of explanations for the noises or finding doos open. Unfornately we are not there so it would be impossible to come up with them.

Wooden floors are the worse for making noises. The boards can be stepped on and pressed into a position that would be like a spring until finally it snaps back into it's natural position making a noise sounding like a foot step. Stepping on several of them would sound like someone walking. As for concrete, no idea.

Doors can be the same way. I've seen warped doors be shut and be compressed like a leaf spring. Finally they pop open. But since we are not there then it can be hard to offer ideas.

What about doors opening and closing by themselves?

Kutt, did you see the doors opening and closing, hear them, or find them in a different position than they were before?

I have been hearing what sounds like my bedroom door open lately (it creaks like crazy) but come to find it's always closed.

I agree with MK... footsteps are such a distinctive sound that it's hard for me to imagine a natural explanation for them. That's not to say that there isn't one, of course.

I used to hear footsteps in the basement of one of our houses all the time. It sounded exactly like heavy work boots walking across the concrete floor. My husband, who hadn't heard them, kept insisting that it was the plumbing.

One morning we were lying in bed when the footsteps walked across the basement floor. My husband jumped up and said "someone's in the basement". I told him to relax, it was just the plumbing.

I hate to admit what satisfaction it gave me. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Hi Kutt,

Wow, you must be a great decorator to be staging homes! Very cool.

I'd say it could definitely be explained naturally, however, were you able to investigate any of the noises to see if you could track down where they might be coming from? Footsteps are harder to explain than knocks, in my opinion, though.

I've got a part-time job staging and decorating houses and this one two-story house I'm currently working on has phantom footsteps upstairs and constant knocking on the walls and doors.

Is this paranormal or can it be explained naturally?

The house I grew up in had these exact same occurrences. As well as a few appearances of shadow people.
