So I scanned through the first 40 pages or so(which is pretty impressive considering that I'm having such a hard time getting myself to read my current book on my nightstand) and I've got a few comments.

First off, I guess I should give you my own abridged backstory. I have a Psi ability. My great-grandmother was a "fortune teller" and the ability runs through that lineage. My first best friend was a ghost and I spent much of my childhood into adulthood predicting useless events and having spirits "talk" to me. Yes, useless- well for the most part. Overall it's very random and I have no control over it and have never sought control over it despite psychics approaching me and telling me that I could. I've since called myself "the reluctant psychic". I've never read anyone and I've never wanted to, but despite my reluctancy, I was desperately curious and wanted answers. I went on ghost hunts, searched the internet, went to ghost lectures- anything I could find(luckily the search brought me here, and it's a pretty awesome forum with pretty awesome people if I say so myself). Anyway-I can't enter a haunted location without having an experience- from headaches to messages and everything in between. After many years of searching for answers, I realized that there aren't many(aside from the very compelling discussions here on this board ). And that leads me to my comments-

Sylvia Brown is a fraud. The vast majority of "psychics" on TV, in the media or who make a living being "psychic" are. It seems you learned that the hard way. Also- if they have a price list- run. Even if they do have true psi abilities, you don't want to deal with these people or be associated with them. Which leads me to my next comment.

Just because another person has the ability doesn't mean they're a good role model for you. We all have belief systems and moral codes- and they're definitely not all the same. Be wary of tools that other Psi's might be using- just because they don't think it's a big deal, doesn't mean it's not. Kind of like kids smokin' in the school bathroom. No big deal- they do it all the time. Of course you do it once and you get sent to the principal's office. To elaborate I'll paste a comment I wrote on a thread about Ouiji Board's-

"First off, I want to say that people who say that the Ouija board is a game in the Milton Bradley sense of it all are right- it is a 'board game'. However, the actual process of a spirit board isn't a game at all. It's an occult tool going back centuries. You don't need good ol' Milton's to talk to the dead since it's not the board, but rather, the action of invocation. Any piece of paper and a button will do.

The action of this invocation is very real and can be very dangerous. I personally never used one but have heard the stories(my best friends great grandmother was a witch) and have seen the after effects of a session gone terribly wrong. Obviously some people never have anything happen, and then you've got the extreme cases of terror. It's a lot like gambling- only instead of money being at stake, you're dealing with strangers. After a close friend went through a terrible experience with one in her already very haunted old home, the first thing I said to her was "What did you expect?" When you're dealing with the spirit world there is no way of knowing what or who is on the other side. A basic concept we all learn as children is "don't talk to strangers". As we get older we can use our own judgement to figure out who we want to talk to or avoid on the street. But we don't have that luxury when dealing with the 'other side'. With the spirit world, even those with a sixth sense about them, still are childlike in their understanding of what's there. Any believer, non-believer or skeptic, after thousands of years of debate, multitudes of religious beliefs, theories, personal experiences, captured "evidence", no one can agree on anything. So when you're dealing with the unknown, it's best to use common sense- don't invite strangers into your home- or to hang out with you in a cemetery. There are a lot of perverts and sickos in this world, and to assume they don't exist on the other side in some form is naive. And I don't care if you're a complete non-believer, it's basic probability. It's easy for some pervert to pretend to be someone else online- and it's just that easy for some cosmic bad guy to pretend to be a lost little girl ghost through a Ouiji board.

Everyone has had some experience with theft, physical or sexual abuse or violence in some form- if it hasn't happened to you, it's happened to someone you know. I can appreciate anyones desire to want to understand, prove or disprove any concept. Curiosity is human nature- but just try to be reasonable. If you wouldn't want to send your personal information out to all the sex offenders in your town, then you probably don't want to send an open invite to the spirit world for a party at your place."

I must add that this goes beyond just ouiji board's. Any time you open yourself up to the "spirit" world; ouiji board, audio recording, seance- any of that is leaving yourself and the area/people around you exposed. Now, I'm not saying that you should be like me and only let it come to you, never searching it out, all I'm saying is be careful and think long and hard about what kind of rules and guidelines you want for yourself and be willing to alter them as needed. Just be careful and smart. If it's something you wouldn't be okay with in your own personal non-paranormal life, then maybe it's something you want to stay away from when you investigate/do readings. It's important to cling to logic in a field where logic is so evasive. I truly believe it's what keeps you grounded and steadfast in your search.

And lastly- this is an inherited talent- but like most talent's, they have their limitations. Not everyone is a prodigy- so don't be so hard on yourself. Some people are good at math- you can hear the dead. Remember- just because math is everywhere doesn't mean someone who's good at math should obsess. Obsess enough and you'll find patterns everywhere. Doesn't mean they're worth a hill of beans. Same with this talent. If you look hard enough you can make anything be what you want it to be. Engulf yourself too much in anything and eventually it will swallow you whole. And I promise you- if the messages are important enough- you won't even have to look for them. They'll come to you. And the best advice I did get from a much better psychic than myself was that I could always turn it off- and I do. It's important to have ground rules for yourself and those seeking to contact you.

Hope this was helpful and not taken the wrong way. This is a great place to be to share theories and discuss experiences- but it's not a playpen here. Expect debunking and respectful questioning. After all, if there is any path to the possible truth out there, it's not going to be found by blind acceptance.

	Take care-

Thanks for reading my story. I wish I would have known about this site before. And when you got back on the site I felt and could see people trust and accept what you say. Respect is what you got and that is a very big thing. I am really getting knowledge from here. Very wise and intellegent people here. I re read my story and it still gets to me what I went thru and almost lost everything over the obsessions. The spirit world will drain you just like a human can. Thanks for you're help. ST
