Last week my sister was driving home at around one in the morning. There is a small road right off a major street next to California State University, located in Long Beach (CSULB). As she was driving down that street a very large ball of what at first appeared to be mist- yet solid and not trailing off as mist normally does, was floating several feet high in front of her car. The ball of 'mist' was slowly dropping down as her car approached. She wasn't sure what it was, but continued driving anyway. As she drove just under it, there was a loud crashing noise as if it collided with her vehicle. She stopped the car and looked out it. The ball was now on the ground behind her and was now solid instead of mist. She was overwhelmed with a feeling of fear, so she instinctively got back in her car and drove the short distance home.

Once home, she called her boyfriend who was also driving somewhere at the time and she asked him if he could go by that street and see if there was anything else there, but he was unfortunately too far away to go there.

When she told me the following day she seemed really upset and told me not to tell anyone. (I asked if I could post it on here to see if I could find her some answers) So I'm thinking to myself, no problem- it was probably natural phenomenon or possibly by stretch a ghost. She wasn't so sure by my explanation.

Apparently she had been having extremely vivid dreams every night for a week prior to this event where she would wake up in her bed and there would be three 4 feet high entities that seemed like Alaskan Eskimos to her, but distinctively not human. (weird description?) They had very pointed noses but no noes bridge, and very long nostrils. There eyes were slanted in an asian fashion (sorry, not trying to sound racists there, that's just what she said), and the eyes were very large, but still human looking. I got the impression she mean twice the size of a human's eyes, but not nearly as big as the stereotypical alien's eyes. The entities would be looking at her, and then reach out to touch her. She was terrified and couldn't move.

I personally am not completely convinced that there is a relationship between the dreams and what occurred, but both have been upsetting her a lot.

The following morning after the 'crash', she went to check the damage on her car, at first we could find no damage, but then saw odd scratches by her door and rear view mirror, but they were very small- possibly unrelated and she didn't remember them.

So what do you guys think? Was it natural phenomenon, or something else?

My guess, just a weather balloon, probably of a similar variety (but newer vintage) that crashed at Roswell. /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Sorry at the poor attempt at humor. On a more realistic train of thought, could it have been some type of test or experiment that got away from the science or engineering departments of the university? I seem to remember a recent (last couple of weeks) military contract being awarded to a university to do studies of interactions of an aerosol and clouds, so it might have been a balloon with some type of misting/spray rig.

The visions in her room sound like classic sleep paralysis…can never remember the technical name.

LaJa would be disappointed in me haha.

It's not anything real, it's like a dream, it's your mind playing tricks on you.

Do you mean hypnagogic hallucinations?

These occur at the onset of sleep, when one is between being awake and falling asleep. It's natural to see things, hear things, and feel a presence in the room in thsi state. Basically what is happening is you are dreaming while not yet asleep. The same thing can also happen between sleeping and waking, which is the hypnopompic state.

OOO Ref, that's intense! Her dreams sound like they are about classic ET encounters to me.

About the road she was on. I'm extremely familiar with the area I as I grew up in the area and went to college at CSULB. There is oftentimes mist or fog in the area at certain times of year. Maybe it was a dense fog, and the sound was not related to it at all. Maybe the sound was from something else entirely and just happened to seem like it came from the mist/fog behind her car. That could be one explanation.

Taking GhostlyDesigns' suggestion about experiments on campus even further … there is a Naval base in Seal Beach just minutes away right? hmmmm?

From what I understand the Naval base is no longer active. I also thought the dreams were just a case of sleep paralysis but decided to add them to the story since she seemed so insistent that they were related. I recently had a frightening bit of sleep paralysis myself.

Of course I didn't witness the object myself so I wouldn't know what it could have been, but I either forgot a detail to this story or she only told me today, but I do have an update to this. (Although I still would personally say it is probably mist that looked as though it moved as her car descended the hill and a tree branch hit her car without her realizing it)

Who knew you went to collage next to my neighborhood? That's awesome!

Here's the update:

Update: She says the skin tone was a puke grey tone, almost like a light greenish tint but mostly grey. They had no hair, and she could not recall whether they wore clothing or not as she saw them at a very close range when she opened her eyes, she only got a good look at their necks and up.

The same night as the incident, when she arrived home, the location that she had seen the object in, over the house tops she could see a pink/ light orange beam of light coming up.

Upon hearing that description of the beam of light, I suddenly recalled a previous incident of my own from approximately three years ago in the same location.

It was very late at night, around midnight as I recall, but that’s around the usual time I would be going to sleep anyway. I had turned off the light in my bedroom to go to sleep when I realized there was an abnormally bright amount of light coming from outside my window. There is a street light across the street from my window, but when I looked out, that was defiantly not the source. Coming from behind my neighbor’s house, there were three tall beams of light that seemed to be rotating amongst them selves. They went higher then I could see from my limited window surveillance. They were semi see through and green- which made me crack a smile I must admit. I didn’t assume at the time that they were paranormal, but it struck me as odd non-the less. I grabbed my video camera to film the lights, but the camera picked up nothing. I did not own a normal camera at the time, so instead I took a picture using my cell phone. It was very hard to tell what the picture was of, but the green beams were defiantly there. At a later point my cell phone battery completely died and I lost all contacts and photos on it, although it wasn’t a very good picture anyway.

I went back to my video camera at a later date to make sure the lights weren’t on there, they weren’t, but I realized I had caught something else. At the same time that night that I saw the lights, there was a loud buzzing noise in my ears, I get a lot of headaches so I assumed it was just my ears, but the camera had picked up that same buzz. I’m not sure how long the lights stayed hovering around my neighbor’s house, but assuming they weren’t paranormal at the time, I simply went to sleep after watching them for a while.

Again, I’m not sure if this story is relevant to my sister’s, but it is a possibility.

Here's a slightly similar story I also got from my sister today, I wonder if it could have influenced her thinking her event was aliens since this happened first:

December of 2009, my sister went to Maryland to meet her boyfriend’s family. She had heard previous stories that he was a believer in aliens and UFOs. She assumed that he must have been some weird druggie guy, but when she met him she realized how wrong she was. It turned out that the ‘believer’ was a very nice, intelligent, young man who seemed to have good senses. He told her of a time when he was driving down a deserted road (which Maryland has an abundance of), and he saw a bright beam of light come down at his car. It scared him, and he frantically drove back home. He said he believed it was the tractor beam of an UFO.
