My aunt and uncle's upscale house in Michigan has had some strange occurrences recently.
Strange and bad noises (such as inhuman groans) coming from the basement, knocks on the doors and walls, doors opening and closing by themselves, breezes of freezing cold air, whispers, etc…
Is this a haunting or can it be explained away as natural phenomena?

With the change in weather and not knowing all the details I would first lean to being weather related noises. Like pipes making noises, drafts from places not insulated and other stuff like that.
Always look for the normal explaination before thinking of a paranormal explaination.

The doors opening and closing by themselves sounds odd. The other, as Ryan said, could be weather/structure related.

What about disembodied groans coming from the basement?
I told them to setup cameras and recorders and leave them running all night to capture this phenomena.

Silly question but how do you know they are disembodied? They could just be good at hiding.
Again without knowing more details but it could be pipes, it could be any number of machinery or whatever is down there. If the person is hearing them from upstairs then the floor and if any insulation could be muffling the sound.
That would be an excellent idea to put up some cameras and recorders.
