I'm trying to remember a medical condition, if it can be called that. It's where a person is lying down for bed and they hear either music or voices. It was determined to be the two sides of the brain fighting for control or to relax, I can't remember.

Can anyone help me remember the correct name for this thing. It's almost starting to drive me crazy.

I'm not sure if there is one exact description for it, as it appears there may be any number of reasons, but I found this – maybe it'll help: http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/…..mptoms/hea…ices/causes.htm I'd be interested to know if you find the exact term you're looking for…

I looked over WebMD and similar sites and couldn't find an illness you're referring to. I'm definitely interested in know what it is if you find out what it is.

I've often wondered about this too, because I sometimes hear voices when I am falling asleep. I don't think that an hallucination can explain hearing my brother say "….since I got laid off last Thursday….." accompanied by the feeling that he'd get a job again really quickly, and then discovering two weeks later, on a Friday, that he did indeed got laid off the day before. He found another job in about two weeks after that. I've wondered if its my brain shutting down or something else. Anyone else have these kind of 'hallucinations'?

Eh, I got nothin'

Sounds more like a premonition than a hallucination. I have not had any kind of experience like that, pretty cool though.

And then I think, what's the difference between a premonition and an hallucination? Time?

A hallucination is something that doesn't come true. A premonition is something that is usually seen or felt by a person seconds or minutes before it happens. To me it feels more like a recalled memory than a sudden flash of insight or anything.

Many times, while either falling sleep or waking up, I'll hear what seems like audible voices in my ear. Things like, "wake up" or "hello." Other times I hear successive rappings on the wall or door.
