OfflineWell the first show was brilliant…Pam had one of the lines of the night, in fact she had a couple, but the one I'm going to go with tonight (until I compile a list of qoutes is this)
Pam (to Sookie and Lafayette): I'm standing here in a WALMART sweat suit, how much more of a "TEAM PLAYER" can I be?

OfflineEric: We fight like siblings, but we fu-k like champions.
Pam: Color me impressed, you guys know how to party.
Pam: I am wearing a Walmart sweatshirt for y'all. If that's not a demonstration of team spirit, I don't know what is.
Steve: I'm a gay vampire American and I love you, Jason Stackhouse.
Pam: She smells.
Sookie: Is that bad?
Pam: Can't imagine it's good.
Jason: Fangs are basically like twin hard-ons.
Pam: I can't be the only who's noticed half her head is blown away…

OfflineWhile I'm thrilled the show is back, I'm not pleased with some of the plot arcs they are choosing to follow right now. Can all the Bellefleur nonsense PLEASE STOP ALREADY. They should have followed the books a little better on this one, while the Bellefleur family has an important ROLE in the books, please not everyone needs to be at the forefront. I enjoyed Terry and Andy much more in the books. I'm anxious to see what the authority is about and would love to know who freed Russell, but must confess that I've grown bored with Tara completely. Bringing back Steve Newlin (not a spoiler as he came back in season 4 finale) is the best they could come up with? His character comes back off and on during the books but honestly the way they bring him back is really stupid.
Oh well….at least I'm comfortable in the knowledge that Jose was killed in the arm chair he hated the most…according to Lafayette.

OfflineSomething has been bothering me about the series the last few seasons and I couldn't put my finger on it exactly but I think now I've identified the issue and it's a bit of a double edged sword.
Like most, I'd never heard about the books, but once I knew they existed and thanks to HBO's insistance to make it's subscribers wait eons between seasons for their "original" series technique, I began reading them. I have gone on record, HERE at PUG, of saying that reading the books ahead of the series didn't really effect my enjoyment of the show because the differences between the source material and the actual show were enough to keep you guessing….but here's the rub.
That same attraction has now gone against them. I'm not sure how badly the writers' strike effected this or if they now have different script writers or what the deal is but things have spun horribly out of control. I think in their desire to shake things up, I think they've actually shook things LOOSE. Those interesting plot arcs that were soley created for the show have sort of backfired at an alarming rate and have sort of become a stone around the neck of the script writers..and it's beginning to drag them under. Too many loose ends etc. Here's the part that drives me crazy, they didn't have to go crazy with the original stuff as there are tons of interesting angles RIGHT THERE IN THE BOOKS. There was no need to expand Tara's character. Who gives a crap about Sam's family? The way it was handled in the books was much better. Aside from Jessica, Lafayette and Russell Edgington, most of this HBO stuff has failed miserably. I know they needed Jason for the eye candy, but honestly, in the books, his role is greatly reduced. I could go on for quite a bit on this but I don't want to spoil anything for those not familar with either, but I'll never understand why Hollywood feels a need to tamper with things that DO NOT need adjusting.

OfflineActually maybe Tara's turning a corner, but I'm sad to report that they've made such a mess of the story line, I'm not sure they can right the ship. The show is a shadow of its former self, they blew it with the fairies by not introducing Claude & Claudine sooner and more effectively. DO NOT like the way they've done it on HBO.

OfflineGood episode finally Russell's back! Also, the two funniest lines (to me anyway)
Terry Bellefleur : Starting to think this wasn't such a great idea (as he and his buddy are tied up in an underground bunker)
Andy Bellefleur: Careful with the homo talk Stackhouse, people sue for that kind of thing.
Great outro song too Iggy Pop
