I haven't checked out Most Haunted as yet, but I will agree with LiteraryOne that the ones I have seen including GH have all come up short. Some come off chessier than others. Perhaps a mini-series instead of a series. With more detail on equipment, story line of haunted location, and more "quality time" at the sites. Like living at the location for a month or so. Instead of the wham bam out the door within 24 hours or maybe a few days if we are lucky. These weekend (I have a day job) people are fine, but I would like to see qualified people doing just gh. (perhaps living off a grant or something) I think there is enough evidence to warrant more serious study of the Paranormal.

	That's just my 1 1/2 cents worth.

I have been watching all the new "wannabe" paranormal shows. And so far I think that Extreme paranormal was so over the top that we will never see those guys again! And that isn't a bad thing!!

As far as Para Cops, I can take or leave it. I watch when I can find nothing else on YouTube. I did find the police aspect interesting and it does add a bit more credability than plumbers! But it does just miss the boat as far a making me want to see the next epi. I believe that it isn't being picked up.

There is, however, better level of DT wannabe programs coming out. I have been watching "Cities of the Underworld" and "Solving History" very interesting. It also seems the J and G keep having "guest appearances" on nearly every epi of DT. Don't those two have enough money yet???

And I will say that I still like Most Haunted! I just think they have found the right formula that works and they continue to produce an entertaining program. Not to mention the locations they visit is always great. I know that I am not part of the majority when it comes to MH but I still like it!!

All of these shows are designed to be entertainment wether they'll admit to it or not. Wasn't Kris Williams an actress that was hired by Ghost Hunters? Maybe someone decided they need some eye candy, she's certainly been popular.

All of that being said, as mentioned above, I would have no qualms about heading out with the DT team!

When we've interviewed the guys from GA, they are pretty open about this. Zak and Nick were looking for something to film. They decided to hit some haunted spots around where they lived. They hired Aaron as their camera guy - and he had no idea what they would be filming. If I recall the original documentary, they didn't have a whole lot of equipment with them - mostly just cameras. The equipment has evolved as they have gone along.

Regarding DT: Or did they take actors/actresses and camera/sound students from a local film school gave them a bunch of "ghost hunting gear"?

I have actually done a little home work on this and you are actually correct except for GH.

DT & GA were both somewhat started that way. They are all contracted to keep up appearances so you won't hear them going against the show as long as the paychecks are flowing. GA's Arron was looking for a job and he was hired as a camera man. Then they got the idea of them all being ghost hunters. Jason was a roto rooter guy looking to get out and was looking for a web designer and low and behold. Grant was one. They too got on the idea of ghost hunting.

The bottom line is that all the people you see on TV worked at getting a TV show. That was their top priority. Not at what the show is about. GH is the only one I know that denies this.

However, I still like DT and can't wait for next season. Regardless, what other job can you travel to all these cool places and do all those great things. I would go with them in a heartbeat and say oooo and ahhhh everytime they told me to, just for the experience but they were already in NJ for the Jersey Devil. They just didn't know where to look.

If I wanted to see a show about ghost hunters that misrepresent their day jobs (plumbers), I would watch GH.

Last I heard Roto-Rooter confirmed that the two main GH guys were actively on the payroll, but working a reduced sheudule to account for their paranormal stuff.

What about their day job is misrepresented? (apart from the "Call about the case" that always arrives when the film crew happens to be there and the job is about to finish. Obviously set up for the camera as part of the show's identity)

I have my problems with GH - there's stuff they do that I do and don't agree with - but I also understand that I'm a "monday morning quarterback" so I try not to criticize.

Regarding DT: I find myself asking if they got their investigators from a pool of the general public who are each uniquely qualified in some facet of the the investigation work that is required to meet the show's objective... Or did they take actors/actresses and camera/sound students from a local film school gave them a bunch of "ghost hunting gear"?

The way they react over-dramatically to silly stuff (like bats/birds etc) is great for entertaining the non-discriminating masses who absorb pseudo-science through the TV... But for those of us who are genuinely interested in the unbaised and impartial study of the available evidence (to the extent that our understanding allows us to equip ourselves to try to measure) it's off-putting and it detracts from the portions of the show they do well.

Pet peeve: The fake commercial break cliff-hanger

"I'm walking down this corridor and OH MY GOD LOOK AT THAT!!!!"

	(commercial break)

"Oh my God look at that! That's the biggest darned spider I've seen all week!"

They deliberately lead people to believe they were Chicago Police and put it out there that they were unique which is far from the truth. Their actions and demeanor also threw up a red flag as to their involvement in law enforcement. Well, at least for me, something just didn't sit right.
