OfflineI enjoyed this series a lot from an entertainment perspective. Amy said this week that Season 2 has now been confirmed and will start filming next month, again for The Travel Channel.
I remember first seeing Amy on "A Haunting in Georgia" years ago, (that was one of the two feature length special episodes of "A Haunting"), and her information was very convincing in that, (taken at face value assuming no prior information was given to her.)
Despite living with a self-proclaimed professional psychic for several years and being blown away on several occasions, (I wrote about one such experience in August's PUG Mag), I'm still skeptical – especially about psychics who are on TV and are chasing viewers. That said, there's certainly something about Amy that seems to separate her from the current crop of TV personalities.
OfflineVcon, yes they definitely follow a strict formula for each show.
Drake, I did see A Haunting in Georgia but don't remember Amy at all from that show.
I particularly like the retired detective's work on the show … the way he interviews subjects, researches the archives, and then makes connections between the history of the area or location and the paranormal activity.
What bothers me, sometimes, is when Amy is so vague. Like in the last episode, she is describing the KKK but never says "KKK." Why wouldn't she just come out and say it? She describes seeing a group of men in white, all the same race, with the infamous hats they wear. I mean, that was screaming KKK, yet she just said "gang."
But, yes, it is entertaining and I do enjoy it overall.

Hi MK,
Jump to around 6 minutes 20 seconds in this video and you'll see Amy.

OfflineI really liked that "A Haunting" episode… it was perhaps my favorite story of the entire series. I bought them on DVD and haven't watched them all yet, but that episode was a definite highlight of the ones I have seen. I'm glad it jogged memories! /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
MK said earlier about The Dead Files:

That bothered me too. I couldn't help but think she was fully aware of what the people were affiliated to but didn't say it due to being conscious of giving too much very specific information. It kind of made me wonder whether she did have prior (non-psychic) knowledge of the events at the location and so was trying not to disclose everything she knew to avoid looking an obvious fraud. I mean no disrespect, but it did seem obvious from what she did say that it was the KKK operating in the area, and yet she seemed to hold back intentionally. It just seemed bizarre and controlled. The fact she mentioned that the group of men were all the same race was a peculiar statement to make unless taken in the context of their KKK membership.
OfflineI love this show! Amy's facial expressions crack me up! It's like watching a little kid sometimes the way she screws up her face and her body language is pretty crazy. I also saw her on the A Haunting show and thought she was pretty interesting back then. She is definitely a unique individual which brings alot to the screen. The detective does a good job with the background investigation and I like when they do not compare notes until the end. One of my favorite things about this show is how they don't sugarcoat it. When the lady with all the freaking dolls asked if it was going to get worse, I loved when Amy was all, uhm yeah…
OfflineThat would explain my confusion. I thought she was talking about one in the same "presence."
I must have missed the first episode then.
I don't mind the focus on demonic activity, but I thought the first part of the episode was repetitive with those "negative" energy comments that didn't seem to further the investigation in any way. But I will watch again!
I agree. She does go over board with the "negative" remarks.
For entertainment purposes, I am entertained when I watch the show. However, I find her slightly hokey or saying things that seem stereotypical, or something. I can't quite put my finger on it.
OfflineWe prerecorded a really awesome interview with Amy and Steve from The Dead Files yesterday for Paranormal Underground Radio. Wow, were they really down to Earth, very straightforward, and funny.
Some of the questions/comments posted here were addressed during the interview. The interview again reminded me that you can't form accurate beliefs off a TV show. The editing of a show can't capture everything. I also better understand Amy's walkthru at each location and Steve's interview process of each client. Some great behind the scenes info.
I'll post here once I set the date for the live airing of the interview, hopefully soon.
