Is anyone else watching The Dead Files on the travel channel? I watched the first show and it was very entertaining.

For those of you who haven't seen it, the premise is that a psychic and a retired NYC police detective split up at the start of a case. She does the psychic thing while he does real research. They come together at the end to compare notes.

Either the psychic was given all the information she needed through research and a script or she's one gifted psychic. She was incredibly accurate.

It's a TV show, so it's hard to know what's real and what's for entertainment purposes only, but all in all I liked the show.

Yes, I did see the first episode, I think it was, where the murder took place in a basement. It reminded me of the show that Jackie Barrett did recently where she investigated cases with a retired NYC Police Chief.

A little too much "I sense evil" and "I feel a very bad spirit" during the episode for me. It was definitely interesting though, and I really liked when they featured the detective's investigation during the episode.

One thing that was interesting … How could the psychic interact with a "spirit" (or maybe it's better to say interact with an "impression" of someone) who is still alive? The psychic kept saying the presence was almost demonic. I thought that was definitely … different since they basically said the person she was talking about was in prison.

She found two different "presences"… One was the demon in the basement and the other was some of the personality of the guy who was in prison. I guess he left some of his essence the night he murdered the shop owner.

I actually found it very intriguing that she could pick up residual energy of a living person.

There was actually a show before this one. No demons there. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

That would explain my confusion. I thought she was talking about one in the same "presence."

I must have missed the first episode then.

I don't mind the focus on demonic activity, but I thought the first part of the episode was repetitive with those "negative" energy comments that didn't seem to further the investigation in any way. But I will watch again!

I have watched both epi's of this show……not bad….

MK…your question about interacting with an impression of someone who is still alive…..why not?

If an impression is left….it's left….correct??? Why would that person have to be dead to have someone pick up on the impression?

Any thoughts anyone?????

Of course residual hauntings are based on impressions right? However in this case, it seemed like the psychic was saying the impression was acting intelligently and basically staring her down, etc. By the way she was describing it, it didn't sound residual, which I thought was … different.

I find it very intriguing that a person can actually leave a piece of their personality imprinted on the environment to that extent.

Not sure about whether it's true or not, but it would be very interesting if it is.

I think it does make sense that we can leave our residual energy behind.

Amy seems genuinely afraid of the shadow people. What are those darn things anyway?

I really liked this episode compared to the first.

SPOILER …

I never knew Shadow People were evil and tried to kill or do kill people. I had heard that about demons, but not shadow people.

That is absolutely frightening.

Don't believe everything you see on TV. When we fear entities is when we give them power.

So, where do Shadow People come from? Who are they?

That's what I want to know, MK. Who are they and where do they come from? What do they want???

I saw a trailer for the season opener of "My Ghost Story" and they have some amazing footage of a shadow person caught on camera. There really is something disturbing about them. Maybe because they're so dark? It's hard to believe that something positive would look like that.

I used to just think they were ghosts, but now I'm not so sure.

What would be weird is if they were the shadows of people who had died. The spirit goes somewhere, as does the body, so why not the shadow?

It's almost like she regresses to a little girl while doing her walk-through. She does seem to hit on a lot of things that the detective uncovers.

She does seem to regress during the walk-through, doesn't she? Even her mannerisms change.

Or maybe she has a second personality that's a little girl who takes over when she does her psychic stuff. Either way, it's definitely noticeable.

She is incredibly accurate, isn't she? Sometimes the detective looks shocked when she gets her hits, so either it's not scripted or he's a better actor than I think he is.

I believe she is taking on the persona of the dead person that is communicating with her…

She does say that she is able to allow the deceased to enter her body.

The questions of my life, what are they? I don't think they are ghosts, and they are disturbing.

What i don't get is they always seem to border along a wooded area. I'm not so sure if they want anything, but I wonder if they are protecting something. What are they doing?

Is it just me or is Dead Files seem like it's following the same script every week?
