Except in a rock show, the performers are insured.

Been to hundreds of concerts, and have had concerts rescheduled or cancelled.

In the latter, I've got my money back, always.

Not sure if you mean Jay and Grant are on top.

I'm not dazzled by paranormal celebs.

There are so many people who contribute to the positve side of the paranormal, like on this forum.

They do it with no financial gain. These are the true heros imo.

Very odd the hotel bill for the event is made out to "The Atlantic Paranormal Society". hmmm

I wasn't able to make to the Hornet event but a number of my friends -- both in API and some who have an interest in the paranormal -- had a good time. I have respect for Gartland, Chip and the others who time to appear.

Nice to see people working together helping each other out.

TALA event canceled

It is with deep regret that I must inform everyone that the event scheduled for this weekend at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia will not be taking place.

I was scheduled to appear at the event and was informed today that the event will not happen.

Brent Fair and Odyssey Star Productions originally promoted/coordinated this event. It sickens me to think that this situation is turning into a repeat of the TapsCon debacle.

After all the money to produce the TALA event was siphoned from the Odyssey Star account, Bob and Summer Jennings tried desperately, against insurmountable odds, to insure that the event would go on as planned. Sadly, at the last minute, they were unable to reach agreements with the venue and the event was canceled.

Unfortunately, I have no information to offer regarding refunds to those who paid to attend this event.

If/when I do receive such information, I will post it immediately."

Anyone else read a contradiction in the first two sentences?

By the sound of it, they are working people that don't have a lot of money to spend. So I'd assume even if they weren't alarmed that they wouldn't want to be involved financially anyway, because they didn't want to spend the money. I know she also said in there that they wouldn't normally have been able to go to the events together and I assume that was because they couldn't afford two tickets and the trip. Those tickets were hundreds of dollars, right?

Again, being the trusting people we are, saw no reason to be alarmed over this. I repeated to Robert, “I don’t want to be involved financially!” He told me he felt that it would be fine, because we had no involvement with TAPS Con 1 or 2. Those were Brent’s dealings and his responsibilities. We held no liability for those events whatsoever. So I begrudgingly obliged.

Letter to the Public from Summer Jennings

I would like to introduce myself. I am Summer Jennings. For those of you that read Scifake, or have attended past Odyssey Star events, you know that I am the wife of Robert Jennings, “Treasurer” of Odyssey Star Productions. Up until NOW, his title was empty and pointless. I will tell you how he came to hold that title and address some other items that have been the topic of discussion here. I try not to pay attention to the negative things being said about my husband and myself, but it’s like a train wreck and I can’t help but look.

We have not known Brent Fair very long. (a little over a year.) We met him through Nancy Planeta, as we had joined her paranormal team, SSPIRIT shortly before TAPS Con 1 in July 2008. We (Robert and I) were present during the convention as volunteers and had NOTHING to do with the planning or organization of that event. We had only known Brent and Nancy for approximately 2 months at that point. Tickets were already selling for TAPS Con 2 at that time, under the company name of TFTC, one of Brent’s other ventures. Robert and I felt very lucky that we were invited to attend this event and have the experiences we had at the event. This was in July.

We continued our relationship with Brent and Nancy, being members of SSPIRIT and had frequent contact through our residential investigations. In fact, we had a close friendship and we enjoyed spending time with them and the rest of the team. We thought we knew Brent pretty well. In our time spent with him, he also got to know us pretty well. He learned about our business experience and the skills we could bring to the table should we ever decide to go into business together.

That’s how the partnership came to be. Brent took us to lunch one afternoon and approached us about this new venture and asked us to be his partners. He told us right up front that we (Robert and I) would not make any profits from any events until he could pay off all his debt from TAPS Con 1. He made it seem like he had a plan for paying everything off in a very short time frame. We agreed to give our time and efforts to make this venture a success without expecting any form of payment.

Before Odyssey Star was ever incorporated, Brent informed us that he could not have another Paypal Account. We didn’t know why, nor did we ask. Robert volunteered to give Brent use of his personal PayPal account. I told Robert that I really did not want to participate in Brent’s financial dealings and I advised Robert not to put his name on anything having to do with finances because of the situation with TAPS Con. I didn’t have a good feeling about it. Brent wanted us to open a bank account in our names for Odyssey Star Productions, and I flat out refused this request. Robert trusted Brent, and against advice, opened up the PayPal. He gave Brent all the e-mail and password information.

Odyssey Star Productions had to be incorporated, so Brent filed all the documents. After the fact, we found out that Brent had listed Robert Jennings as the Treasurer of OSP. My husband did NOT sign any incorporation documents giving his permission to do so. He was now the “Treasurer” on paper. Brent didn’t even have our address under Robert’s name on the Articles of Incorporation! He used his own!

Again, being the trusting people we are, saw no reason to be alarmed over this. I repeated to Robert, “I don’t want to be involved financially!” He told me he felt that it would be fine, because we had no involvement with TAPS Con 1 or 2. Those were Brent’s dealings and his responsibilities. We held no liability for those events whatsoever. So I begrudgingly obliged.

Robert did not feel he had to do any checking up on the PayPal account, as any conversation we had with Brent all the reports were “Everything is great! Tickets are selling, and everyone is paid!” There was no reason that we were aware of that would have told us otherwise. Robert did not take on any of his duties as the Treasurer. It was a title given to him because Brent needed to list directors of the company in order to incorporate. Period. And keep in mind; this was done without giving Robert and I a heads up. It was just done.

So, on with the business. Odyssey Star was now incorporated; we had a website, and could open up for event sales. Since the conversations with Brent seem to indicate all was well with ticket sales for our Seven Sisters Inn events, the USS Hornet Events, Sloss Furnaces event, and The TALA event, we didn’t question it. Robert did not have a hand in ticket sales, contacting or payment to venues and talent. Our duties were simply to show up to these events and help out with the guests. Simply put, we were used as grunts.

Because of our arrangements with Brent from the beginning, we did not receive any payments, monetary or otherwise. Brent was still trying to dig himself out of the TAPS Con hole. We attended these events only to receive room accommodations and to have the experiences at the venues and with the talent that otherwise, we, as husband and wife would not have been able to attend on our own. And we were fine with that. We were having fun and getting to enjoy the paranormal world. We have NEVER EVER received a dime from any event we have participated in with Brent Fair. In fact, we were kept in the dark as to how much revenue the events were bringing in.

I know everyone thinks Robert and I have made this gigantic amount of money, and I can understand why one might think that. I wish we did. We have put a lot of our time into these events. Robert and I both have full time jobs that we’ve had to take time off from to put on these events. We have a small child that we have to be away from when we travel to these locations. We have made some sacrifices both financially and personally to help get this company off the ground and keep it there. Unfortunately, we have failed.

We were aware of the speculations about Brent Fair taking off with people’s money and not providing the events. Still, we weren’t concerned about our own events, because we knew we would be there, and the events would take place. And they did. And the final 2 events with Odyssey Star will take place.

We finally became very alarmed when we held our last event at The Clewiston Inn. Brent Fair was supposed to have been in attendance. We spoke to him early the morning of the event and he informed us he would not be there. He was supposed to have driven from ....Ohio.... and arrive in the afternoon. We asked that he keep in touch in case we needed him for anything. Turns out, we needed to contact him for several issues during the event, and he was not able to be reached for the duration of the event. This is when Brent Fair disappeared. He called us AFTER the event and apologized and had some really lame excuses as to why he left us holding the bag for that entire event, including paying the venue and the talent. Brent was the only one that had access to any Odyssey Star funds.

This is when Robert decided it was time to check on the PayPal account. Brent had changed the password. Robert could not access the account. He tried several times to contact Brent in ....Ohio..... His cell phone number had been disconnected.. He tried to call Brent’s ex wife. She claimed to have not heard from him or know his whereabouts. Finally Brent contacted Robert. They had a very heated discussion, and Brent surrendered the PayPal password and claimed “he had forgotten to give Robert the password”. Legally, I cannot go into what we discovered in the PayPal transaction history. This was the last time we have heard from Brent Fair.

It is also speculation that we are transferring money to Brent out of the PayPal. That is absolutely ridiculous, and IMPOSSIBLE. Since Brent has surrendered the changed password, Robert has changed the password locking Brent out of the PayPal. This PayPal is connected to Robert’s email and Brent no longer has access to or control over the funds left in the account. (Which was a menial amount to begin with.) We needed to ensure that Brent could not spend what was in the account or transfer it out to anywhere else.

What I can tell you is that these last 2 events would not be happening had Robert not gotten this information from PayPal and from the help of our friends, the talents scheduled to appear. We’d all be in serious trouble, and ticket holders would have gotten scammed. AGAIN. By Brent Fair. Now that we are aware of these things, we are doing everything possible to make sure our guests get everything they paid for.

For the record, the scheduled talent is NOT footing the bill for these events. They are not paying for the venues, nor are they paying for their own accommodations. WE ARE. However, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to give a sincere “Thank You” to Kristyn Gartland, Chip Coffey and Robb Demarest. They are, in fact, donating their time to these events as a favor to Robert and I, and to give their fans that paid their hard earned money what they paid for. Yes, some of the talent may have to spend a little bit of their own money for food and necessities, etc. but they are not eating the bill for the venues or anything else. The venues have helped us out and are being EXTREMELY accommodating to make sure the right thing is done for the public.

Amidst all the speculations about what is going on, some really nasty things have been said about Robert and I. I understand that it’s the “guilt by association” rule, and I get that. Nobody knows us personally, and think that we are out to screw people. That is simply not our nature.

Again, we have NEVER made a single dime off of any of these events. The original plan was that we would, only after Brent took care of his previous obligations. That never happened. We got involved with the idea that we would get to investigate these venues with our guests, have fun, and travel while doing something we were both passionate about. The opportunity presented itself, and we took it. That’s all we took.

I know people are leery of us. I know it’s the “Birds of a feather” idea, and again, I understand this. I cannot apologize for what has happened in the past with other companies. All we can do at this point is step in, take control, and make sure everyone gets their money’s worth. And we are trying.

I didn’t write this in hopes of making anyone stop saying negative things about us, because I know that isn’t going to do it. I didn’t write because we’re trying to save our own skins. We did nothing wrong, except join Brent Fair in a business venture. We were never at the helm of this ship. We were just deck hands, so to speak. Along for the ride. I am simply writing to tell you what I know to be the truth. I hope it answered questions for some. And I know this won’t satisfy all. But we’re doing what we can.

One final thing I would like to address. The PayPal links and Website links to the events. BRENT ..FAIR.. is the ONLY person that has access to these websites. (Not the PayPal) We are unable to get into them to change any information. This is why nothing has changed on his sites and are still linked to all the venues. He owns the server account, and has complete control over ..ALL.. information posted to these websites. We can not even change updates or give more information through them. However, the PayPal links on these sites are still going to Robert Jennings’ PayPal account. We will be creating a Myspace, or Blogspot for the last 2 events. We advise everyone NOT to purchase packages through http://www.hauntedhornet.com or http://www.scareassylum.com , but rather through one of the alternate sites, as Brent Fair could possibly replace the PayPal buttons on HIS websites and have the funds go directly to him.. The alternate web spaces we create will contain important updates and necessary information. I will announce which ever medium we post, so that guests can stay in the loop and have a way to contact us. I have deleted the Odyssey Star Myspace account, and replaced it with a new one. We can be reached there. I am NOT and NEVER WAS attending the Odyssey Event Sept. 19th!

It came to my attention last week by a phone call and email I received that I was going to be at the Trans-AlleGheny Lunatic Asylum event sponsored by Odyssey Star Productions this Sept. 19th.

Not only was I shocked that my face and name was listed on the event but under what right was I listed or promoted as being at the event?

I called my agent and then couldn't control myself and made a few phone calls myself. I find out that about 6 months ago my agent was asked If I would like to be on this event as well as a few others. He said I would entertain the idea if we knew more about it. So my agent sent over an email to this person with questions and what arrangements could be made. We never heard back nor had been contacted by this person since. He placed a phone call a few days later and never got a call back! That was close to 6 months ago!!!

Having not heard back he thought the event was dead in the water and it was never brought up again. Instead of us being contacted my name was put on the event as if I was going to be there. What??? Ridiculous if you ask me. How can anyone use someone's name, sell tickets to the event with them being attached to it and never call the person and let them know they are apart of the event??? My agent never heard back from them!

Anyone that knows me when I speak at a college or appear at an event or investigation, I post it on my websites and place it in my calender. I let everyone know about it. Imagine my surprise when I get a fans email who bought a ticket to the event and a phone call from a fellow investigator who heard that I was posted on their site as going to be there. I at first thought it was a joke, until I went to the site to see it posted. Shocked and alarmed I made some quick calls and even talked to the man himself that puts on this event and was given some ****.

"yeah you were on my list to call since we never got anything from your agent!" Excuse me, how can anyone by what right or mind, promote someone to an event if nothing was discussed further? Plus, that was close to 6 months ago! There was no response to the emails or phone call.

The biggest problem here is any tickets sold to people who bought them because I was going to be there. What happens to them??? Do they get their money back? How are they going to feel when they find out I was never apart of this? In my phone conversation I stated this and said what would be done, well I was told If i DID want to still be a part of this (Odd, something i was never apart of in the first place) he stated he would talk to my agent so we could maybe still work something out. Well days later, nothing got worked out. It was passed from one person to the next and when it got to that person they knew nothing about this. So what does this tell us? One doesn't need to be psychic to see what is going on...the run around.

Did they actually think that people wouldn't catch on?

I have now taken thing into my own hands and demanded my name be removed NOW and as a warning to everyone out there BE LEARY OF THESE EVENTS BY THIS COMPANY. I will not tolerate any deception or **** by any means to anybody in this field. Enough is enough.

Over the past few days I have heard of people losing out their money at TAPS con, speakers not being paid, other speakers being added who were not attending, events being cancelled, no phone calls being returned, etc. All by one man in particular. Brent Fair. From what I have seen you have f'ed over tons of people in this field, namely the consumers from what I have seen on youtube and on blogs. Now you screw over some of my friends in the field who work long and hard to contribute to the science and growth of this genre and then have the audacity to use my name to promote one of your events without my approval!? If I ever see you face to face I will give you a what's for. You don't lie to people and get away with it, not on my watch!!!

I love going to events and meeting people, but when stuff like this happens to the fans and the consumer...they are going to stop going to these events!!!!!!!!! It is going to give this field a bad name.

What has become of this industry??? How can we trust anyone??? My god, I take months off to spend time with my father and this crap is happening??

I am sorry for those of you having to hear my rants, but this is uncalled for and something needs to be done. Hey we all make mistakes but from what I have been hearing and seeing and what I just caught wind off regarding my name and attachment to this event. I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS!!! It is fraud!

This is a field I am very passionate about and nobody comes close to the amount of years of experience I have and the years I have put into this, (except maybe my good buddy John Zaffis). It is my life, always has been, always will. I live and breath the supernatural.

Why do people have to come along and give it a bad name. Its time we the people stood up to this!!

Please if anyone bought tickets to this event with the assumption I was going to be there, I am soooo sorry. I had no idea this was going on, otherwise I would have had it removed earlier. IF that was the sole reason for you going, DEMAND your money back!!!!!!!! and let me know, I care. If my name is on anything, I most definitely care!
