I just can't do it. I can't sit here and try, for the best, to keep an open mind. I know from personal experiences how the "Family" treats people, teams, and clients. This is just another reason their whole monopoly approach is bad bad bad!

* Boot camp?

* TAPScam – by a taps family member, and key player

* Look at all the complaints that have come in about other taps family teams, and look how they're not doing anything about it.

Do you know that the hierarchy refuses to take a complaint against a TAPS family team, from another team, because they automatically assume it's "jealousy"…WTF?

It's not jealousy if you have tangible evidence of their ineptitude.

Regan – who is TAPS Family in WA?

Hi Regan!

It's becoming increasingly harder for me to remain open on this TAPScon issue. After the contract being signed by Bret Fair as manager of TFTC, Taps Family Taps Con.

That really got me! Well, are you TAPS or aren't you? You can't say your not TAPS, then sign a contract the way it was signed.

I don't investigate. I'm just the average person who likes the paranoramal and has an interest. Sort of an armchair person on forums when it comes to the paranormal.

I watch GH, but don't put myself in a fan category. I'm a skeptic, and after I caught one thing on the show, I watched to catch more.

Then it all became sort of silly and I hardly even watch any more. The first year was the best, imo.

Which in all honesty, has lead me to question anything else, I come across with TAPS. I follow the once bitten rule.

I read your posts and see you are an investigator.

It's a shame you have come across problems such as these.

The funny thing, I was just looking at all the TAPS family members. Had thoughts of how they work this all out and how problems are handled.

Sounds like the Mafia to me. Once your in TAPS you don't leave? I think TAPS should resolve the problems if there is evidence to back it up.

It's not fair to the other members who play by the rules. Are there rules for TAPS family members? I always wondered!

Even the Mafia has ways of getting rid of the bad eggs. lol

Sounds to me TAPS (founders) may be afraid of what will be said of them if they ask someone or group to leave the family.

I agree, being jealous is silly and seems as if an excuse was given. Maybe do the right thing.

I just don't get all googly eyed, by so called famous people in the paranormal field. I have noticed in SOME cases, fame and parnormal don't go hand in hand.

$$$$$$$$

I view the investigations and experiences of just everyday people of more interest. These people seem to driven by their passion of the paranormal, and not money.

They seem sincere.

I have nothing but respect for those groups in the trenches who are out on their own time and their own dime investigating the paranormal. Definitely Regan's group does this, and very professionally.

I can't agree more. I also have gained much respect for people who seem credible and have experiences.

Being I'm torn, as to what exactly the paranormal is and have tortured myself most of my life with this question.

I seem older than most of members here. Being nothing has been proven, who knows what can be learned in listening to someone's experience.

Life flies by, you'll find yourself on the flip side and maybe no smarter for it. /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

To crack that barrel, spilling all the monkeys…

Or not to?

It's not hard to figure out who they are, without me opening my mouth. As we all know, there's a verbal (non court issued) cease and desist between our two teams.

That's all I'm going to say. /huh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Just the act of listening is a comfort, I hope, to those experiencing a paranormal event. The fact that something has happened, and they have no one to turn to, or tell, for fear of being thought crazy, to me must be almost unbearable. They question their judgment, and I've even heard it said that some almost wonder if they are in fact crazy.

The main thrust of the personal experience section of our magazine is to give people a place to voice their experiences unmolested, or free of fear of ridicule. I mean, our members are behind an online persona, a mask to their true identity. We don't even require people to give their real name to be a part of the magazine, though we appreciate it if they do.

To me, the forums are neutral ground, where believer and skeptic alike can meet, and maybe come to some sort of understanding of the other's view, or views. Through mutual respect, an open ear, and positive feedback, hopefully all involved can come to a better understanding of the worldview of others.

As far as Brent Fair is concerned, from the information I'm getting from other sources, he strikes me as being a rip off artist. I truly think Jason, Grant, and the TAPS organization are not in cahoots with Mr. Fair, that they were trying to help a friend out in letting him use the TAPS name, and that they had no idea of the guys ineptitude. I think it's proving to be a hard lesson learned on TAPS part.

I agree. I think this is what makes a forum great place to interact. I don't believe in a general sense, in the paranormal. But, I don't discount is possible and something may be there. Who am I to say that someone's experience did not happen. I have read so many prove it posts, they lead no where in a positive direction.

For me getting beyond all that, was a good thing. Remove the looking for proof and get enlightened by reading others experiences. I have learned things along the way.

I have yet to have one, maybe I never will. So, I choose this path to understand. Maybe that's all their really is, understanding.

People have been looking for proof for ever. You get older and come to terms it may not happen in your life time.

As far as Tapscon, Brent Fairs events are still listed as offical TAPS events, on TAPS website. Did they learn their lesson?

It seems that there are con artists in any genre. To see how strong the paranormal community is will depends on how this conclusion is reached. Word needs to be spread and it's doing a good job but the main place it needs to be posted at won't allow it. My main concern is that this is settled out of court and kept quiet. This will leave the con artist to continue on with his ways and more victims.

My guess is that Ron Tebo over at SciFake won't let that happen, and neither will Lisa Abney of HSPR.

American Paranormal Investigations, the team I belong to, helped a bit with the Haunted Hornet event in June and will be helping with the Sept. 5 event (http://hauntedhornet.com/). Brent Fair helped put the event together.

I wasn't able to attend but heard that the event went really well; the only problem I ever heard about concerned a few rude hecklers who had to be told to "behave." I believe they didn't and were later asked to leave. Aside from that, no problems, nothing upsetting.

The event was so well received that the September event was scheduled.

So far, our dealings with Mr. Fair have been good.

Our team is a part of Nightwatchers, as well. I heard that the Hornet might be the site of a future Nightwatchers investigation this fall; we're also hosting an event with Loyd Auerbach.

It is good that people going forward aren't being ripped off. Here's the reality of the situation, however. There are still many, many people out hundreds, if not thousands of dollars who have yet to receive a refund, nor is there currently a rescheduled event at the Clewiston Inn as promised. I hear from people on a regular basis who are waiting to get their money back. So, while he may be delivering as promised on events now, the TAPSCon fiasco is far from over for people who didn't get what they paid for.

Do I think Brent Fair deliberately set out to defraud people? I doubt it, although there are those who do. But, once he realized he was in trouble he didn't deal honestly, and people were financially harmed. Those people deserve to be made whole by getting every penny of their money back.

Welcome to PUG Brad!

I'm glad to hear your experiences were positive. I only wish the everyone else was so lucky. There are many people who say they never received their refund to the Tapscon event. I still hope they do.

The hornet event sounds cool. I'd love to visit the ship one day.

I'm an outsider to this and don't know all of the details. But from what I've read from comments, blogs, and such is that Brent Fair made some accusations and then that was it for awhile. No communicating. Then he came out and made a post to a blog or something saying that there's still some issues and to contact him for a refund, to which nobody has received apparently. And again no more communication.

It seems suspect that Brent is still doing more events right now as well.

I think that anyone would be crazy not to question motives and actions here.
