Although I am not a big fan of the show, I thought I would pass this on. This Monday, April 27th, at 10:00 p.m. on A&E, Paranormal State has an episode on Gettysburg. I suspect they filmed this a couple of weeks ago when Chip Coffey was in Gettysburg for a conference.

PARANORMAL STATE – GHOSTS OF GETTYSBURG – AIRS APRIL 27

When a Civil War enthusiast and his wife began renovating an historic B&B, they apparently stirred up more than just memories. Shadows, loud footsteps and an unexplained boom at 3:02 AM have sent guests fleeing the hotel and pushed the owners to the end of their rope. PRS and psychic/medium Chip Coffey travel to famously-haunted Gettysburg, PA to investigate.

I'll know as soon as I see it which B&B this is (if they don't announce it on the show).

That sounds cool. It's too bad I don't watch this show anymore after they had Lorraine Warren on an episode. I just can't take it seriously anymore, especially when they show Ryan having a serious face while looking at the client. I wonder what he is thinking?

I'll be working another all-nighter on Monday. But, I'll be watching from the hotel. It should be interesting. I can't wait to see which B&B they will be visiting.

I love Lorraine Warren. She's one of the founding mothers of the electronic, "let's hoax 'em," age. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> She's a legend, although not necessarily in a good way…..

I'm curious about tonight's ep. I'll probably tune in.

The episode with Lorraine Warren is coming back on tonight. It will be the one right after the Gettysburg episode.

Okay, I found out the name of the B&B. It is Battlefield Bed & Breakfast which is located out on Emmitsburg Road (south of town).

Here is their website:

Well, someone gave me the incorrect information.

It is the Tillie Pierce house, now a bed and breakfast.

Tillie Pierce did NOT do amputations! That guy is full of you know what!

Just before the battle, her parents sent her out of town to be safe. She was out at my friend's house, the Weikert Farm on Taneytown Road. The Weikert Farm sits at the base of Little Round Top. Many wounded soldiers were brought there. She gave them water and comforted them. That is all she did!

Geez!

Okay, I know you people on the West Coast haven't seen this yet. But, the owner has some explaining to do!

He was questioned by Ryan about the history of the house where Tillie Pierce lived. He said that she was in that house at the time of the battle and did amputations. She was 15 years old! She did NOT do amputations.

I have Tillie's book in which she wrote of her experiences at the age of 15 during the Battle of Gettysburg. The same book they had in their hands. According to her book, her family was frightened when the sounds of battle on Day One (July 1, 1863) was coming close to town. Her parents had Tillie and her neighbor's children moved outside of town for their safety. They were moved to the Jacob Weikert Farm which is located on Taneytown Road. It turns out that the battle was quite literally on the hill behind the Jacob Weikert Farm – Little Round Top. Many wounded soldiers from the 20th Maine and other regiments who fought there, including Brig. General Stephen Weed, were brought to the Weikert Farm where Tillie was. She actually spoke to General Weed as he lay dying in the basement of the house and comforted him. She also gave water to many of the wounded soldiers, both Confederate and Union, who were being housed and cared for in the Weikert Farm barn. She did NOT perform any amputations. She was NOT in her home on Baltimore Street which has been turned into a B&B as the owner of this B&B professed. She was at the Jacob Weikert Farm the entire time.

This is a known historical fact. If you would like to see a portion of the book, go to http://www.eyewitnesstohistory…..gtburg.htm

Well, this certainly shoots this show's credibility, if it hadn't been shot to you know where before this. And, I'm certain that everyone in town will be talking about the owner of Tillier's Pierce B&B. I know my friend, who owns the Jacob Weikert Farm, will be fuming at this twisting of history.

Aaah, I feel better now.

I find that a lot with "haunted" locations. Often the mythology of the place has very little to do with reality. People embellish the story to make it better, I guess.

Watching the epi now.

Well, the owners, the Grandstaffs, were pretty foolish to try and perpetrate such an obviously false story in this town! Everyone in Gettysburg knows the story of Tillie Pierce. Historians have been referring to her book for many years, cooberating troops movements and locations from her descriptions of her time spent on the Jacob Weikert farm during the battle. It is more than obvious to me, and others here, that the Grandstaffs learned of what happened after TAPS visited the Cashtown Inn. Immediately following the televised visit of TAPS to that B&B, they were booked solid for two years. Since this is a new B&B in town, in competition with lots of others, he is trying to get free publicity and bring in guests by having Paranormal State and "advertising" nationally. Since Tillie's book is sold all over town, and in this very B&B, all anyone has to do is open it up and see for themselves that this story is patently untrue. To re-write history, for profit, is unconscionable.

Paranormal State's credibility issue lies in the fact that they had that very book in their hands, on camera, and stated that it did indeed say there that Tillie was at her home on Baltimore Street (the new B&/cool.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> during the battle and that she does refer to doing amputations. Never mind the fact that she was 15 years old at the time, there is not one word in that book that says that or even anything remotely close to that. Instead, it states that her family moved her (and neighbor children) to a farm (the Jacob Weikert farm) out on Taneytown Road as the battle began (where she stayed for many days). The fact that members of Paranormal State said this, holding the book, is a bold face lie and shoots their credibility down the tubes.

This seems to be a pattern developing with these types of shows. Twisting the truth for ratings and/or supporting their "evidence."

I'll be eagerly watching and listening to see how much fallout there will be for the owners and their B&B. Gettysburg is history personified. Changing the history, that is so well-documented, is not to be borne.

I merely pointed out the historical inaccuracies they portrayed. I did not speak about the "evidence" they got on their video equipment or digital recorders during the "investigation." Nor did I make any comment about the "Chip" show and his appearance or what he found as far as spirits in the house.

I don't believe my comments would preclude anyone wanting to view the show if what they want to see is any of the above.

I was just teasing. I always find the inaccuracies in the myths surrounding a "haunted" location different. I've never really understood – if strange things happen, why embellish it with a story that can be verified. Let the happenings speak for themselves and figure those things out. The stories just get in the way of discovering the truth.

The Myrtles Plantation is a good example of how history changes to make profit.

Yep – that is definitely what I was thinking of was the legend of Chloe at Myrtles.
