I just watched this show and found it funny that the vulgar EVP they caught seemed to fit in with the style of the investigators. Coincidence? or do ghosts mimic investigators? /unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Interesting insight. I have often thought that we attract what we are putting out. I have yet to see it, it is waiting on my DVR when I get home. Not setting the bar too high, it is A&E after all…

OK, I watched 25 minutes of it. I just couldn't stand any more. As both a paranormal researcher and a police officer, I found the unprofessional conduct of this crew just was too much to endure. This was just a disgrace, truly catering to misconception and sensationalism. It is present in all paranormally-themed television shows, but A&E makes it an artform. They prove once again that A&E consistently has the worst paranormal programming available.

I give up on these shows. I just don't think we will ever see a paranormal tv show that strikes a good balance of the reality of investigating and the entertainment factor needed for these shows to flourish. These shows are getting progressively ridiculous, and yet they are retaining popularity. Ghostlab comes closest that I can think of when it comes to striking that balance, but even it misses the mark most of the time. I am beginning to believe that the problem is not these shows (which are obviously catering to the lowest common denominator) but rather myself. I think I have developed a healthy prejudice against these shows based primarily on the disparity between their adrenaline-pumped depictions and the sometimes mundane reality of actual investigations. One thing is for sure, after this disgrace I won't be giving A&E another chance with paranormal programming. Their last trainwreck offering, Extreme Paranormal, only last several episodes, I can honestly say hopefully this one will be as short.

I also find it annoying that paranormal investigators are constantly being depicted as off-the-wall stereotypes. The cigar-chomping detective with the silly hat (obviously an homage to Tango), the heavily inked twenty-somethings (notice that more people with tattoo sleeves showing up since Steve, apparently it is part of the TAPS vetting process)and the people with enough facial jewelry to adorn the inside of a tacklebox and looking like they belong in the Avril Lavigne fan club (GHA participants). We get it, you want us to think ghost hunters are renegade personalities, but only ghostlab has been able to accurately portray the every day people persona (which is the reality). I know the paranormal attracts some fringe personalities, but the shows make sure they want to visually remind you of that fact over and over again. I am ranting, lol and steering off topic…

diatribe over…until the next goofy paranormal offering.

Its not you Andy, unfortunately you suffer from what we call intelligence. Its a somewhat uncommon ailment that most people do not have. Its obvious that you are suffering from a side effect, education. While others can be duped by flashing lights and loud noises, you have the ability to decipher between real (normal) and unreal (acting). So, do not beat yourself up over it, just go with the flow….. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

If this show stays on the air for more than 15 minutes, I will be surprised.

Ridiculous!

Absolute crap.

And I thought Paranormal State was bad, this takes the cake.

Oddly I didnt think it was all that bad. A lot of emphasis on the research side of things and interviews.

I thought it was a MILLION times better than Psychic Kids and a LOT better than Paranormal State.

Maybe not on par with GH/GHI/GA but not as bad as these others.

I had these preconceived notions about this being a gimmick show aimed at attracting a certain demographics to profit off of the current plethora of "paranormal shows" and seems I was correct. Sounds like it failed miserably. I did not like Extreme Paranormal but Paranormal State is OK when they limit the psychics and the fabricated drama. /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

"They insisted that the victim animals simply had died of dog bites from dogs or other animals. They suggested that disease might have been responsible for one animal's death. They denied that the victims had been exsanguinated, as many witnesses had claimed, and even suggested that the puncture wounds reported might be from barbed wire. Callers reminded them that some wounds were deep enough to reach into the victims' lungs, that the flesh was not torn as in dog bites, that signs of struggles were inexplicably missing, and that corpses did not decay normally, but their arguments were brushed aside. Also brushed aside were callers' attempts to bring extraterrestrials into the conversation.

When the recording ended. I rewound it and played it again and again. I still could not believe what I was hearing. The callers had the skeptics pinned against the ropes from the very first call." - Scott Corrales

I'm watching it now on my computer, and thought I would take notes along the way:

1) I guess in Chicago its normal protocal for a detective to walk around with a cigar all day?

2) Whats with the onslaught of all these fancy vehicles that groups now have? Thats one heck of a rig they have….must have got it at a police auction.

3) I like them showing the protection circle ritual….

4) I like the note taking, I see a form that is being used, I like the structure of this….I thought when I first heard of the show that the criminal justice aspect of taking notes, interviewing, info and evidence collection would definitely benefit a paranormal investigator…the techniques can be used for both….maybe its me, but they seemed more thorough with their questioning…

5) Not too impressed with the reliance of a medium…

6) Nice….like the follow up in a donut shop…no stereotyping there…

7) EVP's were not bad…

Overall, I can not totally sign off on this show yet, i have to give it another try or two..I like the structure and thoroughness, so that appealed to me. So I will see what next week brings…I won't give this a thumbs down, nor a thumbs up at the moment…

I saw this one listed the other night but didn't think I could bear trying to watch yet another paranormal show. So I skipped it. Maybe I'll watch it if they go somewhere that I would be interested in.

Might be hard, considering where some people used to hide their "ectoplasm."

a group on Face Book that hosts a blogtalk just booked these guys for a show, when I told them great I would love to beat them down for showing a bug to a client on national television as a Spirit Orb. They went into a panic.

I was advised that is a good way to get kicked off a show, I has advised back that when a person gets kicked off a show or a chat room for posing legitimate questions That would speak volumes about the show.

She had offered me an hour of my own forum if I went gentle on them.

Good for you. I think a lot of these blog talk shows need to realize that there is a legitimate Paranormal Community that is different from the Para-Entertainment community. I think that some just believe the guy's on TV are it. However, I have to admit I didn't see the show. I will have to watch on Tues. before giving a professional opinion.
