That sounds interesting, could you tell more? Where is Rose Hall, btw? I didn't see the show, haven't seen any GHI shows yet this season.

Rose Hall is just east of Montego Bay on the north side of Jamaica. The house was saved and rebuilt quite a few years ago, I seem to remember the remodel and rebuild cost about 1.5 million. Very few of the original furnishings remain, but all of the furnishings are period antiques. A few people may know of a neighboring plantation Cinnamon Hill owned by Johnny Cash, who wrote a song about Rose Hall – "The Ballad of Annie Palmer".

The legend of Rose Hall is about Annie Palmer, the White Witch of Jamaica. The story is she went through, killed, three husbands, one of which was died by having molten lead poured into his mouth as he slept. Annie was supposed to be a practitioner of Voodoo. She would find a slave that worked her sugar cane fields and give him the favor of her attentions and bedroom for a while and once she became bored, the slave would end up dead.

One of the slaves she took a fancy to was to marry the daughter of the overseer. The overseer was a Voodoo priest. Well Annie departed from her normal methods and killed the young man on the first night. The overseer and Annie had a sort of Voodoo battle with the overseer the victor. A special tomb was prepared and with a special ritual Annie's soul was to be sealed into the tomb. Some how or for some reason the ritual was not finished and the story is that Annie still wanders the grounds of Rose Hall.

Two years ago during a visit to Jamaica my wife was busy at Appleton's sampling and buying so I had to keep our 14 year old son (at that time) busy. I wanted to go to the Regge fest which was in full swing but that's not the right atmosphere for a young teen. You could see the smoke from the highway! My son wanted to go to Rose Hall Plantation. The tour was interesting and the Witches Brew delicious. During one of the stops in the house the guide was standing half way up the stairs telling us about the place when I became aware of a pink or light red glow or fog, I don't know how to describe it, just above where the guide was. At first I thought I was seeing camera flash artifact, but it didn't move as I looked elsewhere and it persisted for the two or three minutes the guide was speaking. Of course, my son had the camera and was off in some other part of the house. What stands out is that the last thing the guide told us was to take notice of the room upstairs decorated in red, as that was Annie's bedroom and red was her favorite color.

According to local legend Annie's three husbands were buried down near the beach at a place where three palm trees have always grown. When I was there construction was being completed on a pair of condos one on each side of the three palms. It would be interesting to hear if there have been any unusual activity in those condos.

One last observance about the great house and the landscaping. Southeast of the house, back in the wooded area there is a sort of pond and water from that pond comes downhill towards the house. The stream is divided and part goes around the east side and part goes around the west side before the streams rejoin near Annie's grave. I have wondered if that was done intentionally in the belief that a ghost cannot cross a running stream of water.

Well here we go….Alcatraz at long last…as someone else mentioned earlier, the mind just does back flips at the possibility of how they mess this up!!!

I'll have to agree on that one…I thought about making a new post, but decided against it on the predictions of what the "big" announcement would be, I did not want to waste other peoples's time on the subject….

Having been to Alcatraz twice the only impressive feature to the

island is the old fort ruins that it is built on top of! I wonder if they'll
