No offense to anyone's beliefs but this is where I come up with my questions. How do we know one house is oozing with activity if we can't prove it in the first place?

Another is that I don't necessarily disagree with the gadgets but all they do is tell you what they were designed to do. Not one is designed to locate ghosts and not one has proven to locate ghosts. Power also doesn't need to be on to get a reading from an emf detector.

The only way I can see any of these gadgets working for ghost detecting is to have a real ghost and take readings from it. Then you would be able to tell if it worked. Since we can't do that, we have no idea what the readings that people get signify. However, this is one reason I keep looking.

	.

Personally I think there are legitimate findings of paranormal activity captured by EMF's, voice recorders, etc. but I have no way to verify such. A good way to help sway the evidence over to the acceptable view would be to have a group of investigators go to two different locations in the same general area. You have them go into one building or house that has no record of paranormal activity and one that is reputed to be oozing with such. You don't tell them which is which and make sure neither has any power and both need to be similar in ambiance. Then you see what happens. Now obviously this would not sway nonbelievers 100% but it could open up a few minds to some degree if the evidence was overwhelming.

I am an armchair paranormal enthusiast. I do believe that paranormal phenomena does exist. BUT - how to prove it? How do we measure something that is clearly NOT in the range of "normal" science? That is, of course, the dilemma of the field of paranormal investigation. We can try to prove it by utilizing instruments that have been mechanically designed and tested as to what they produce, such as cameras, sound recorders et al. The EMF detector is such an instrument, however, how one interprets the readings from a paranormal perspective is up to debate.

My personal dilemma is that while I believe this phenomena exists, I want scientific evidence. May never happen. While I do not trust psychics, mediums et al, I do not ignore what they have to say. And when "evidence" is captured on legitimate instruments, I want to have that evidence reviewed by professionals who know what that instrument can and cannot do.

So back to gadgets. These new gadgets, to me, are akin to Ouija boards. What are they measuring? HOW do they measure it....and though I am not from Missouri - prove it to me.

This is similar to my feelings about the equipment, and I'm an armchair person who would like to investigate some day. The equipment seems to be used by alot of investigators, but is the paranormal being found with it? I've read paranormal website profiles, on what equipment they use, (many have an equipment list) and talk about how they set it up. But, I have not found anyone stating, the equipment will produce evidence of spirits/ghosts. So, why use it? Why spend the money and time? I really don't understand using the same method, with no results?

My take on the gadget thing runs along the same lines. The gadgets for me just raise more questions than answers.

Does not annoy me. I really don't understand why the gadgets are used. The more I read about it, the more questions I have, about how the equipment can produce results. I looked into the history of using the different equipment, and didn't find any answers, there. Are people just using the equipment because everyone else is? I ask this with respect to investigators, I just don't understand using something, with little or no results. I've read about the programs that can rule out human/animal sounds, if their ruled out is the evp taken as paranormal? I'm stuck at digital recorders, and can't even think about the other equipment and what results it gets. I've been thinking about this for years.

The new gadget isn't new and yes it is the same type thing that Barry used on GHI. The problem I see with full spectrum is what does it really show you? NASA uses the same principal when photographing with Hubble. Here is a photo with and without.

That full spectrum camera (a "real" full spectrum camera) was the creation of Andy Coppock. He is very busy with all things taps so that is very likely the one you saw on GHI.

After scouring the internet, I was able to get clear enough pictures to see the markings on the side of the camera. They were of no help, as it appears to be a one-off highly modified creation. I cannot even find what platform it is based off of. It looks like some great things were happening. That excitement is tempered by the fact that this is very new technology, and the specifications of the camera and it's operation are not known. The light anomalies may simply be IR blooming bleeding through from the crazy-long exposure time necessary for the uv portion of the camera.

Good episode, though. Better than average evp's (quality wise) when compared to other ep's.

	Andy

It had nothing to do with the show I was just sleepy for some reason. I do recall where they caught an EMF spike and had the sense to put 2 meters side by side to show it was not a defect. The place had no power either. Some of the EMF's were relatively clear and some were not. They do allow local paranormal groups to tell some of their tales and I don't recall GH doing such. Seemed like a reasonably active night. I hope some one can elaborate more since I slept through part of it. /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
