OfflineThere were a couple of references in this thread to the practice of "provoking" which suggested that it shouldn't be done. And that only gentle questioning should be used to try to evoke some response from a "ghost" -- presumably so that a hazzardous situation would be avoided. (As a side-note, there are also some posts over on skiffy that brought this up, saying that it's too extreme and dangerous). This view makes no sense to me.
First of all, it assumes that ghosts can be prompted to appear by using a specific approach of interaction. But, even assuming one believes this, then why would an investigator NOT do this? And also everything possible to conjur up paranormal activity. Isn't that the POINT of ghost-hunting? To find ghosts? Because there seems to be the notion by some that there's a form of provoking that they believe actually brings out the spirits, but it's not recommended, for reasons of "safety."
Well, I don't get it, but if I'm misinterpreting this issue, feel free to straighten me out. /ohmy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
OfflineI think it comes down to what someone experienced and believed it was paranormal in nature. Quite possibly that someone was out "ghost hunting" and did some provoking and something happened to them afterwards. They attribuated it to being paranormal and told everyone else. Now a lot of people are thinking that provoking is bad. I don't have a problem with provoking to a degree but we do it as a last resort. It could also be that since GA does it a lot and you are seeing results such as scratches and other negative outcomes that people are thinking it's a bad thing to do.

As Karen said, Zak did shed some light on this point in his interview with us.
I think it comes down to investigator preference. And I think that in trying to "hunt ghosts," most want to remain respectful of the spirits they come into contact with. At least, I hope that's the case.

OfflineBumping this one to keep interest up for the podcast coming up in a few days. I can't wait to hear the interview with Zak.
NoWhammies, let us know when it is posted. I wanna be one of the first to listen!
OK … listen away! Podcast is now online. Just go to the home page and click on the Podcast tab to listen to Zak talk about his experiences and time on Ghost Adventures.
Also, the June issue is online in our forum. Zak is also featured in the Investigator Spotlight feature. Check it out!

OfflineListening to it as you read this.
I'm pretty sure everyone will get A LOT out of this podcast. Zak talks about so many different issues, including why they investigate the way they do, his own personal experiences, and a possession while they were filming for Season 2 of Ghost Adventures.
One thing I think you'll come away with after listening to Zak on the podcast (which, if you watch his show, you also know), he is extremely passionate about investigating the paranormal.
OfflineOnly thing I noticed is the website he gave doesn't exist or at least I can't find it. He said it was http://www.ghostadventurescrew.com or did I mishear it?

Ryan, if you paste ghostadventurescrew.com in your browser, it will direct you to a different address, but should get you to where you need to go.

OfflineOk, that worked. I wonder why it wouldn't work the other way for me.
I'm not sure. I just typed in http://www.ghostadventurescrew.com and it did take me to the right page.

In talking with Zak, I was struck by his passion for what he does, and also how well-reasoned they are about why they investigate as they do.
OfflineI've decided I'm going to become a name dropper…..did you know my son's step mother went to high school with Paul Rudd? True story.
LOL He hung out at my husband's apartment before he did the movie Clueless. That was before I moved in, so I never met him. /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

OfflineI've been watching the last season's mini marathon that I recorded. I think they're entertaining and I like how they present evidence they found throughout the show "when" it happens. As a "non-hunter" I think seeing the different styles of ghost interaction to be really interesting.
