I was 10 when I saw it at the National Gallery in D.C. I think it made another run through the states in either the 80s or 90s. Missed it on that run. I wanted to take Monkette to check it out. I'll have to see what the price is if it's too pricey I'll skip it.

I watched the show and I thought it was really interesting but I also would like to see more famous men's death masks. It's amazing to me that George Washington's has survived so long and I also didn't realize how not having teeth could change a face so much. I thought it was a great program and I think it would be great if they could do another one with more of these masks in the flesh.

That was something we studied in Mortuary School, quite a common practice back in the day....not really relevant to a death mask, but in one class, we were given a plastic skull, and had to build a human head with all the features with wax....that was fun! I got a picture of it somewhere....

I thought it was absolutely fascinating! I thought the George Washington one was really interesting and the comparisons with the portraits really nice. Abe Lincoln and Caesar (if that was really him) were very cool too. Napoleon and Dillinger? Meh. But overall, I thought it was good - the technology was really fascinating too.
