Not sure if this qualifies as paranormal, but the History Channel is running a special tonight on death masks – called simply, "Death Masks." It's 7PM CST. Looks to be pretty interesting from the teaser…

Might be worth checking out.

Thanks Bron.

That which is unchallenged and exercised as habit rapidly becomes ritual.

When this occurs, dissent becomes an object of surprise, if not resentment.

I thought it was absolutely fascinating! I thought the George Washington one was really interesting and the comparisons with the portraits really nice. Abe Lincoln and Caesar (if that was really him) were very cool too. Napoleon and Dillinger? Meh. But overall, I thought it was good – the technology was really fascinating too.

This was a very interesting show. Thanks for letting us know.

I missed the first 15 minutes, or so. Very, very, fascinating. and wasn't bored.

Never heard of Death Masks before.

Interesting about the technology, using of the lasers.

Lincoln may of had a disease, elongated features.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that part! That surprised me the most.

I'm bummed I missed it. I'll have to watch for a rerun. Sounds fascinating though!

That was something we studied in Mortuary School, quite a common practice back in the day….not really relevant to a death mask, but in one class, we were given a plastic skull, and had to build a human head with all the features with wax….that was fun! I got a picture of it somewhere….

I watched the show and I thought it was really interesting but I also would like to see more famous men's death masks. It's amazing to me that George Washington's has survived so long and I also didn't realize how not having teeth could change a face so much. I thought it was a great program and I think it would be great if they could do another one with more of these masks in the flesh.

And you could have it all, my empire of dirt

I will let you down, I will make you hurt

STILL the best Death Mask, but a little too flashy for dinner parties though.

There we go, now I can see it! Did anyone go to the recent Tut exhibit – the one that toured the last couple of years? I was at the '77 exhibition when Tut's mask came to the US, but I was a toddler and don't remember it. Cairo is on my top ten places to go before I die list…

It wasn't as great as I thought it was going to be – very, very few things from Tut's tomb – mostly other objects and relics. They were still cool to see, but I was disappointed – I wanted more Tut! I saw it in Dallas BTW.

I was 10 when I saw it at the National Gallery in D.C. I think it made another run through the states in either the 80s or 90s. Missed it on that run. I wanted to take Monkette to check it out. I'll have to see what the price is if it's too pricey I'll skip it.
