I like it (true blood), does Chris Isaak do the intro music? I'm only 2 episodes into the 2nd season and have some definitive views on what Maryanne might be.

The singer of the intro music is Jace Everett, the title of the song is Bad Things. I love his voice.
The episodes only get better.

OfflineOK, spill it! What do you think that Maryann is? Maybe an inhuman?
Regan called it over in the true blood thread, she appears to be a Maenad. I wasn't completely sure until i heard sooki read her mind and to my ear it sounded like either greek or an arcane latin, which made me think she was a devotee of either Dionysius (or the Roman equivalent Bacchus), the god of wine, ritual madness and ecstacy. My mythological names for "lesser" beings was rusty. But it all sort of fits together.
A nod to wikipedia for this:
In Greek mythology, maenads were the female followers of Dionysus, the most significant members of the Thiasus, the retinue of Dionysus. Their name literally translates as "raving ones". Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication.[1] In this state, they would lose all self control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear animals (and sometimes men and children) to pieces, devouring the raw flesh. During these rites, the maenads would dress in fawn skins and carry a thyrsus, a long stick wrapped in ivy or vine leaves and tipped by a cluster of leaves, weave ivy-wreaths around their heads, and often handle or wear snakes.
This sort of fits into her MO.

Bittersweet with Lauren, her death!
Starting to wonder if Mitchell is bipolor, or just easily persuaded. lol
Although he seems strong and not the type.
Make up your mind Mitchell, maybe he wants it both ways?
Hey guys, did you like this epi. what did you think?
Seemed a very strong episode!

Loved the episode. I think Mitchell was torn after what had happened to Bernie. He went to the Vampires knowing how bad they are and not really understanding how humans could be as mean & cruel. He wouldn't have went to Herrick if he had known that they were keeping people to feed on.
I love George especially when he screams like a girl and his voice goes up some octaves.
Owen has no heart, I would love to know what Annie told him. I like how she told George not to look in the door when she goes in.

Yeah, I wonder what Annie told Owen, even George wanted to know. I did like how Annie told George not to look in the door, but wonder why she did not want him to.
I guess it's a secret only the dead know? I thought Mitchell might know, cause he mentioned something about things you see at death you couldn't imagine.
Were not his exact words, but he said something similar when he was staying with the recruit in the funeral home waiting for him to wake up.
People seem to go thru a death when they are being made vampires.
So, George is still the living, even though he'a a werewolf? A werewolf death would be there only death?
Do you think this is why Annie didn't want George to look? Maybe that's why George asked Annie what she told Owen.

From my understanding even though George is a werewolf, he did not die just goes through a transformation every month. I need to research some more on werewolves.
I love how Annie showed that she was not a pushover and let Owen know that other bad things existed. But George didn't look too scary but still love him.

That's what I think, too. When george dies he will die his first death, a human/werewolf death.
I've been wondering when George and Nina, had the rough roll in the hay, when it was on a cusp of a full moon, if he scratched her?
His hands were on her back, and can't remember if the epi's since had a full moon.
Maybe, Nina's a werewolf? I have been thinking about it.
I loved George's ninja comment, when him and Annie were fighting with Seth.
The way he made that gesture with his one hand, lmao! "We're like gay ninja's". /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

George is just too loveable to be scarey, well in human form anyway. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
OfflineThat's my BIG vampire question on bh. Wear are their coffins? Mitchell's should be in his house.
I can't find anything, anywhere as to why. Other than they can be in sunlight, and need sunglasses during the day.
They wear coats in warm weather, because they are cold. I guess that's why Mitchell wears gloves
Maybe there is no need for coffins? Do they even sleep, thinking being in a coffin is the same as sleeping. Are they just up all the time?
I've played back the scene (several times) right after Annie gets done burning the photos of her and Owen. She steps outside of the house, when the angry neighborhood mob shows up. The old woman wearing the sunglasses can see Annie. What does the old woman say to Annie, when she asks why she can see her?
I can't make out the old woman's answer.
Okay, I've got some answers for you as I promised I would find them.
B. Edwards is actually a funeral home, so somewhere on the premises there'll be tons of coffins. As far as Mitchell goes…not sure where his coffin is. Bill on True Blood doesn't use a coffin, it looks like he sleeps in the crawlspace.
The little old lady is wearing sunglasses at night. It's actually a funny exchange. Annie says out loud, to no one in particualr, "what's happened?" and the little old lady says " a boy has been run over" believing Annie is speaking to her. Annie says to her can you see me? The woman believes that Annie thinks that she is blind (wearing sunglasses at night) and says "of course, these are just an affectation" (indicating the glasses).
The last episode was off the chain but 6 episodes seems about right for the bbc. Spaced was only 7 episode seasons.
Monkette got me season 1 of True Blood on dvd and so i'm watching season 2 at night and season 1 at lunch time.

Sorry! I do things like that, must be the early Alzheimer's kicking in.
Thanks for explaining that scene. All I kept hearing was blah, blah, blah, affectation. lol
After Annie saw the old woman, some guy bumped into her and said excuse me. I guess it was the set up for this week's epi when Owen and and orange woman could see her. Looks like Annie can have different powers according to her feelings or emotions. When she's not vulnerable people can see her. The ghost rules, are a little vague for what I found on BH.
After looking at the epi from two weeks ago again, I noticed coffins in the background when Seth and Mitchell were fighting.
I need to pay more attention, to the liitle things.
Bummer bbc has only six epi's. Wonder if we have to wait six months for season two.
The vamps have coffins in TB, it's shown very liitle. They seem a liitle more like traditional vampires, except for V, drinking TB in a bottle, and mixing with regular people if they choose. The vampire rights laws are a riot, AVL. lol
Enjoy yourself relaxing and watching TB. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> I lmao, when Andy calls the vampires, the vampers.
OfflineYeah, I wonder what Annie told Owen
She probably told him that in the afterlife he'd have to wear makeup and all the provocative undies he likes to make his ladies wear…that and the fact that she and george were gay ninjas and as such have unique versions of throwing stars.
I guess it's a secret only the dead know? I thought Mitchell might know
If you looked closely, you'd see that Annie and Mitchell exchanged eye contact. Mitchell did a glance that, to me, was like no don't tell him what there is awaiting beyond " death's doorstep".
People seem to go thru a death when they are being made vampires.
They definitely go through a mortal death, but then are brought back from the brink by an infusion of the vampire's blood. I've gotten the impression that the vampire has to have some age under their belt before it is recommended for them to "create" or turn someone. Each Vampire story has a different variation of this vampire codex.
So, George is still the living, even though he'a a werewolf? A werewolf death would be there only death?
In one of the earlier episodes, they open w/George deep in the throes of the transformation. He's narrating (sp?) the scene, by sequentially telling all the medical situations that are happening during the change over. Basically, he sort of dies every time but it's the werewolf strength that saves him. His kidneys and other vitals go into shock and shutdown during the change because his organs are changing as well to compensate for rigors of being a werewolf etc. It's a combination of the change and pain incurred that causes a lot of the trauma he experiences. It's sounds quite horrific which would partially account for the werewolf's rage and uncontrollable nature.
Do you think this is why Annie didn't want George to look?
Apparently gay ninjas have a delicate constitution? /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

"We're like gay ninja's".
If you remember the first time they were together, he tried to ditch her because he was on his way to the lock down spot, so they got busy mere hours (?) before he changed. Not sure if she's a werewolf or not, but we've still not to my knowledge gotten an explanation as to the source of the burns, have we?
I almost made "look at us, we're pathetic, we're like gay ninjas" my siggy.
There's a line from the latest epi that drew my attention and makes me wonder what else will surface in the Being Human universe. She said that Ghosts, Vampires and Werewolves were just the tip of the iceberg. That there was far worse out there. Fore-shadowing for the next season??
thought I pm'd you about it. Maybe I saved it and didn't send. /ohmy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I think you did send but as I don't come on as often as I used to I don't always respond, my fault, not yours

The Spaced commentary shed alot of light on the BBCs production protocols/sensibilities in regards to new shows. Usually, the BBC insists upon tying up loose ends on newer original programming just in case a show gets cancelled. That way there's closure. They usually do 6 or less as a cost saving measure (they did two 7 episode seasons of Spaced but that was an aberration from what I've heard).
I have to admit, it gets confusing bouncing back and forth between the True Blood and Being Human universes because they definitely adhere to different rules. I don't think one is necessarily better then the other, they both serve their "worlds" well. For instance, it seems that BH relies on the better known "code" which affords them a sort of streamlining that allows them to direct their focus on other elements in the story they're trying to tell. I would however like an explanation of why it is that Mitchell can walk in what seems to be broad daylight, unless he's really only out and about when the sun is setting, is that what's happening, who knows, they don't elaborate. True Blood, however, covers their tendancy to drift from the "norm" by saying that alot of vampire lore is merely misinformation put out by vampires themselves to cover their true weakness.
I find it to be a constant challenge to figure out the true nature of some of the players in these series as there doesn't seem to be much of a limit as to what type of creatures will emerge if the writers (especially in TB) are now plumbing the depths of ancient mythology for characters to populate their universes.
I don't know that I'm a huge fan of vampire stuff necessarily, but I AM a HUGE FAN of well written, clever stuff that has a dark sort of twist to it.

OfflineAccording to the BH wiki page, Mitchell can survive daylight but his eyes are sensitive to the sunlight. I like how the vampires can go out in the sun but I also like when they can't.
OfflineI like the new rules, vampires, and other creatures. Takes it to a more interesting level. Showing their human side, I enjoy also and relate to the characters more.
I really liked Interview With A Vampire.
There's a video on You Tube under Being Human. It's called, Vamping It Up. It explains the vampire rules for the show, and answers our BH vampire questions.
It has the vampire characters, and production crew giving vampire explanations. It's short.
I laughed, some things with vampires rules are about production budget, and when they could film.
There are basic simple reasons, I didn't think of. lol
