I have never heard of this series, but on National Geographic channel this upcoming sunday evening, they are airing two episodes. I actually found out about this one because of the guest experts on the "Haunted Prison" episode. It will be featuring Jim and Chris Seffrin of the Infraspection institute to conduct thermography and interpret the images. I find this very exciting, because infraspection is a level 1,2, and 3 thermographer training institution. If it has a natural explanation, these are the experts to comment on it. These folks know their stuff…

I am liking this concept, I hope it follows through.

I just watched the Eastern State Pen episode. Now this is a show I will watch. What made my decision for me was what the one guy said.

He said that what they got didn't rule out the paranormal but gave an alternative explanation for what it might be.

I found it very informative, honest and no assumption one way or the other. Just the facts. What I would call a good paranormal investigation. I would love to have these guys on an investigation and their equipment too.

I watched a short bit of it and have it set to record later tonight. It looked good for what I saw of it.

Now watching the Bigfoot episode. So far so good but I don't expect anything new as they are just going over the Patterson footage.

I really liked both of these shows. I finally found a paranormal show, that was interesting, learned something, and agree, no assumptions were made. Bravo!

I liked the format and was interested in how they used their equipment, something a paranormal show has never done for me before.

So all these years no one has ever looked at the actual P&G footage, just a copy. Very interesting as the copies degraded the footage more.

This was by far the best big foot investigation on the footage I've watched. Issues that have been addressed for years on the footage were covered.

.

I don't know GB, I was kind of disappointed. You know by a lot of my posts I am a big follower of crytozoology based shows. The bigfoot episode seemed like I was watching an updated version of Monsterquest. This episode was basically going over the Patterson-Gimlin film with the latest technology and Jeff Meldrum showing his footprint collections and his perspective or hairy hominids. They did have Munn's go over the original footage from Patterson's widow and scan frame by frame and then gave a newer synopsis. What I would like to see is video clips, photos, witness encounters, footprints and anything new on these mysterious large hominids. I mean I get tired of reviewing the same old footage over and over again and then deeming it inconclusive. The Patterson-Gimlin film is not the only potential evidence that exists. I want something fresh.

"They insisted that the victim animals simply had died of dog bites from dogs or other animals. They suggested that disease might have been responsible for one animal's death. They denied that the victims had been exsanguinated, as many witnesses had claimed, and even suggested that the puncture wounds reported might be from barbed wire. Callers reminded them that some wounds were deep enough to reach into the victims' lungs, that the flesh was not torn as in dog bites, that signs of struggles were inexplicably missing, and that corpses did not decay normally, but their arguments were brushed aside. Also brushed aside were callers' attempts to bring extraterrestrials into the conversation.

When the recording ended. I rewound it and played it again and again. I still could not believe what I was hearing. The callers had the skeptics pinned against the ropes from the very first call." - Scott Corrales

Hopefully they will do another bigfoot show. I was expecting the P&G exploration of the footage when I checked the show info.

This review did take the footage to an updated level, closed loose ends for me. There are things on this footage that really can't be explained.

Maybe the footage is the real deal, it's a great piece of evidence that withstands time.

DD, you're really into this and are knowledgeable, what you have mentioned above would make a great show!

I loved both of these shows for the reasons listed above and more. They certainly are not afraid to consider opposing viewpoints that make biased ghost hunters shake in their boots. I love it, keeps us honest. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for future episodes.

I would agree that I was disappointed in that it was just a review of the old footage for the most part. However, the show does have promise IMO and they seem on the right track. I hope too that this was just the preliminary work for a thorough Bigfoot investigation. Like the old saying goes… Even if you are on the right track you will get run over if you just sit there…

I hope they don't stop with that episode or it becomes just what you said, another Monsterquest episode.

I did not watch the bigfoot episode, but the one on Eastern State really impressed me. I liked how they debunked a lot of the equipment that ghosthunters use nowadays….especially the use of the infrared camera and emf detectors. They basically reinforced what others on here have said for a long time now, that they are not as effective in ghost hunting as they are made out to be. I liked the experiment on the infrasound theory and how at 19hz, a frequency we can't hear, can have an effect on our bodies and mental capacities. Finally, a show where they took well educated scientists to explain the equipment and theories that we have been discussing for a long time now…..Very well done program. If the episode comes on line, I recommend everyone to watch it and educate themselves….

(The theory on apparitions was good too and whether they could pass through walls, etc…)

The sound theory is an aspect of what I have been trying to get across for some time. Not the theory per say but what it shows. If you are going to investigate then you have to continue to go that one extra step than just finding something. Just finding something is a clue and not necessarily evidence. They took the sound theory and then tested it.

The knowledge isn't new but the application to the paranormal is. I have spoken on this before and mentioning how in recent history that it was learned by mistake that Elephants made sounds that couldn't be detected by the human ear. So I knew as most do, that we couldn't hear some audible sounds but what I didn't know was that we could feel it.

Now, I for one am going to use this information in my future investigations. Their experiment has given us another thing to look for. Being, is there the possibility of inaudible sounds that could be causing the peoples unexplained feelings? At least something to rule out.

The electron, non electron theory is also interesting but how does that change the idea of spirit energy?

Ok, I am getting ahead of myself but I liked the first show and am looking forward to more to see where they go…

I enjoyed hearing the scientific aspect of it all, from experts, and not the mumble jumble that we are used to hearing from the TV paranormal show hosts (gh), and their made up theories. You are right though GB, the show validates a lot of what I have seen from you before…

You are sooo right. If nothing else maybe shows like this will start popping up, giving those people or fans another avenue to explore and get serious. Granted the diehards will follow their TV heroes no matter what but maybe those on the fence will fall to our side… lol

I forgot to set the DVR. I'll have to look and see if they are repeating it.

Is this going to be a series? Ive been looking for something to do my

just a special /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I am hoping it becomes a series and not just like Extreme Paranormal for a couple shows.

I liked it as it did not go too far in either end of the believer spectrum but overall it seemed solid scientifically offering alternative explanations. I too liked the thermal clarification. I do not think the sound thing was meant to explain ghosts everywhere just E.S. prison phenomena but it is a possible explanation for like environments. I hope it will be a series too.

I might be lying, but I'm telling the truth

You were in my head while I watched this show, remembering you talking about a sound theory.

This particular location, on the infrasound left me with some questions. These guys appear to be experts in their field. They set up the sub, explained and showed how acoustically the vibrations could carry. The trucks passing outside, with long halls with small rooms off to side (cells) for the virations to carry.

Today, I'm wondering if I missed something. Did they calibrate Eastern State? Or did they just go on their sound expertise to conclude Esatern State had the correct acoustics. Now I wonder what the base line was for this particular location.

I've always questioned the speaker system at Eastern State. The system was set up by a professional sound effects team for the Terror Behind the Walls for Halloween, years ago. Now, I really question the system. If the system is ever left on during the year and possibly at the same level the sub was for the test, this could possibly cause (or maybe amplify) the same feelings by vistors during the year. Similar to the feeling the tested people had during the show.

Did the sound team on the show mention Easter State has a sound system in place? I can't remember. I'm not saying this is done by Easter State, intentionally. But have been there many times over the past fourty years, and have noticed the location to have claims of paranormal activity when the paranoraml shows started.

When I was in the Edinburgh vaults, I experienced feelings of dread. I noticed a sound system which I thought odd, guides were using walkie talkies.

A few castles I visited had sound systems also, with long halls and rooms and many rooms branching off. I can't help but wonder now what I felt, if it was caused by sound I couldn't hear. I will be looking for any type of sound system when I visit a location with supposed activity and will wonder if a sub is some where out of sight.

i thot the programs were very well done, a step up from what we've come to expect from a show like this. they seemed fair and open minded which is good.

i was wishing they'd done the 'susceptibility' experiment with another group but in reverse, ie telling the nonbelievers there was evidence of hauntings and the believers that it was a 'dead' site. i found myself wondering if the outcome would have been different. BUT: i still feel that some could sense spirits but it would be dismissed due to being part of an experiment.

DOVER: you are so much more up on the cryptozoology than me. i found the frame-by-frame dissection of the film illuminating as i always considered it as more fake than real. now i don't know…so i feel it opened me up to possibilities i hadn't been open to before. a good thing, imo.

i think it's going to be a series. i sure hope so.
