Not really sure if this show fits in with the ‘paranormal media’ section but it seems to in my opinion of the show so far.

For those who haven’t been watching the show revolves around the fact that over 300 people (both prisoners and guards) disappeared from Alcatraz in May of 1963 and they are returning to our time. A group…one shady FBI agent, a San Francisco detective and a super smart scientist come together to re-capture them.

Anybody been watching this show?

I'm not always right but I'm never wrong.

<<< is always watching from the cyber canopy. Love the show. Being from the area AND having been to Alcatraz (at night of course) makes it even more interesting. The one complaint I have and it's a personal thing for me, the guy playing the comic book dude (I guess it's Hurley from Lost, never watched it so i'm guessing) is so obese that I find myself worrying about the actor's well being. I'm a heavy guy myself and while it's nice to see atypical looking actors and actresses getting roles (part of the reason I enjoy BBC programming, it's more realistic if the cast doesn't look like they just stumbled off a runway somewhere) it's scary the pure size of this guy.

I'm really pscyed about it and am dying to know how the doctor and Sam Neill's female assistant are the way they are….not to mention the prisoners!!!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing about his weight. To me he looks even heavier then he did on Lost. And even heavier then he did years ago on the show Becker with Ted Dansin. The man needs to think healthy. I am over weight myself but not to that extent.

And I am also wondering about the Doctor and Hauser's (spelling) assistant.(you know what I mean) This show seems to really be along the way J.J. Abrams does his shows with a lot of misdirections.

I'm not always right but I'm never wrong.

This show seems to be doing fairly well in the ratings…as in somewhere in the top 20. Not a major hit but one that seems to be generating enough viewers to keep it from falling off the cliff. if anyone is watching what are your thoughts on whats happening to the '63's which are causing them to go from there to here? And why are they considered to be the 63's and not certain others if you know what I mean. (I don't want to spill to much for spoiler reasons)

Well whatever it is, it's tied into Dr. Guptah. Also notice that Sam Neil doesn't seem to have aged incredibly…if you figure he was 21 in 1963 when this all went down initially that would mean he is 70 now….he sure as hell doesn't look like a 70 year old to me. The other Doctor was an middle aged man back in the day, but now it looks like he hasn't aged either.

I'm wondering if there is a time portal on the site of Alcatraz?

Well, what can I say. We knew she was going to be mortally wounded from the promos leading up to the 2 hour show…. glad he's not my grandpa.

So the scientist tracked Madsen since Korea? He must've had some sort of access to his medical records because he has something that they want…unless this process started during Korean War??? More questions than answers…as usual. You know it's funny, living out here, that big car chase was all over the news and it just happened pretty recently, I would say within the last month, so that's interesting.

Yeah that car chase reminded me of the Steve McQueen movie…what was it? Bullit? Maybe they just filmed the car chase part recently with the actual series wraping before. I heard the wrap party was done more then a month ago. Anyhow. I am wondering IF this show is going to come back. It started off strong in the ratings but seemed to dip dramaticly. That is why I hate cliff hangers. So now it was confirmedth at there is a government involvement in the program (yes, I know they always seem to be involved) I am guessing some military involvement in order to transport operatives into an enemy country along with some super soldier program. Still waiting for the wardan to pop up.

Well, considering the fact that almost everyone else from Alcatraz has shown up, I think it's fairly safe to say that the Warden will appear….not sure, but the first episode where the assistant warden Tanner is killed what did they say about the warden himself?

oh and it IS supposed to be an homage to Bullitt complete with the contemporary versions of the cars involved in the chase and the vw bug…

I don't remember what was said about the warden. You can't really know if he died in the past from reports because all the records of the 63's were frabrcated to hide was happened to them. I'll have to look at On Demand to see if they have it and re-watch it. At least we know that the the assistant warden was not part of what ever was going on as far as coming forward with the rest. There seems to be some sort of animosity between the Warden and his assistant. So maybe he was killed on orders by the warden? Or maybe they just needed a person in the 'normal timeline' to keep track of it all.

I am wondering though what would be the purpose of coming forward in time and not into the past?

And this my friend is another reason why I hate CLIFFHANGERS!!!! Why the he(ll) do these producers/writers do cliffhangers if they are not sure th ey are getting picked up?? The only time it workedwas the first time on Dallas….now these cliffhangers are just annoying little squirts in the TV world.

Yeah it is…a big let down. I always get po'ed that good shows for intelligant people go off thw air. Then there are shows like a million versions of inept people singing or performing along with actors/actress'/80 year old ex-football players dancing around in spandex that keep coming back year after year. Go figure.

Not even the son of satan, the guardian of the Island and a couple of hot women were able to save Alcatraz.

Then again this thread was a sign the show would get cancaled…1 page and only 2 people posting.

Yeah I guess. I'm bumming out about this. Let me ask you, does this sort of make the networks hesitate before signing JJ Abrams again. I read today that he's got another show that got picked up by NBC I think it's called Revelation or Revolution something like that and it's supposed to be one of those 15 years after the apocalypse kinda things. But he had 2 shows cancelled this year (Alcatraz and that other show with the husband wife agents that didn't get traction…forget it's name and am too lazy to look on IMDB). Fringe is limping into the end zone but had a decent run, but was CONSTANTLY on the chopping block.

Alcatraz was suppose to be the next Lost Non-Lost in that it had a whole big story behind it but wasn't as complicated to follow as Lost. I don't think networks are going to stop giving him shows but may want a more 'standard' show, you know the type of show that needs no brains to watch. Maybe a show about Zombies that take over TV programming. Networks are so paranoid about not getting great ratings right away that they'll cancel a show and take a hit then let it try to get its legs and find an audiance.

True that…it's frustrating. I know that a couple of my coworkers are pissed off about this cancellation. Let me ask you, when they calculate the ratings…do they take into account the dvring…lots of people watch shows on their dvrs later on . While watching something else live, I think it should be counted. The program is still being watched and if you think for one second Comcast isn't (or can't) keeping track of that stuff you are crazy!
