I'm looking for 30 more responses. Since October is what Sy-Fy calls the scariest month of the year and they broadcast what they call scary movies which to me shouldn't be considered scary but funny and horrible. I've decided to ask what is your favorite scary movie, one that is fun to watch in the dark during a thunderstorm with a bowl of popcorn and no kids.

I have several but recently it's been The house on Haunted Hill with Geoffery Rush and others in the new one. I watched the sequel the other day and it was horrible. I can see why it didn't go to the threatres. But I like the first one because it creeps me out and I love the way the ghosts move in the movie.

What's yours?

Gigli.

No, actually that's not a fair assessment, because I never saw it. Hmmm…I'll have to think on this one for a while. Although, I recently watched "The Haunting" (1963) with Julie Harris and thought that was a pretty freaky movie.

I happen to love, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (1974)

The docu feel and low budget of this movie, I love, feels real.

It's none stop action and I think it stands the test of time.

Hard to find something scarey, but this still does it for me. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

The Uninvited (1944) starring Ray Milland and Donald Crisp.

I first saw it as a child on "Chiller Theater" and it still sends a chill up my spine. A ghost story in the classic sense.

I still to this day think that Carrie is scary and still jump at the end.

"In the Mouth of Madness" 1994 with Jurgen Prochnow and Sam Neil. Was a John Carpenter flick, heavy Ktulu/Lovecraftian theme. Some cheese, some thrills.

I saw Hellraiser 1 & 2 back to back (good ole HBO when in college) by myself in a dark room after eating electric spaghetti (spaghetti w/psychedelic mushrooms)…does that count?

Ever see Session 9 with David Caruso? I've seen it twice…did not like it the first time but loved it the second time.

Also, The Descent is one of the most frightening movies I've ever seen, and I like all the classics mentioned above.

If you have not seen The Descent you owe it to yourself, especially if you enjoy the paranormal.
