Are you saying that a person could not photograph the same orb more than once?

Of course, I'm not making the assumption that all "orbs" are merely dust, moisture, etc.

	Just curious.

Exactly. You can't catch the same piece of dust etc., in front of both lenses because of how close to the lens it has to be in order to be seen as an orb. So you can't capture the same orb more than once if it is dust, moisture, etc.

You will see in my example photo above that the photos are identical except for the orb in the left one. Both photos were taken at the same exact moment but only the left camera caught the orb. Indicating a 99% chance of it being dust.

The reason for my outfit is if I do get an orb caught by both cameras causing identical photos then it had to be at some distance from the cameras lens. In that case I may have a clue that would be worth looking into and not passed off as dust, etc. The work I am doing is not to try and dispell all orbs as dust. My work is to try and show what is most likely dust. Also what may not be dust and worth looking into further. So far it is working for me just fine. I can show you the outfit and explain it better when I come to Gettysburg if you like?

However, we all make assumptions when criticizing orb photos since there really is no way to prove it one way or the other. That is why I use comparison photos to help me.

However, as no one (regardless of what they claim), can positively identify what orbs are because they can’t duplicate the photos taken for comparison. Simply put they can’t capture the exact piece of dust, moisture, etc. So they can make assumptions but not conclusive statements regarding photos.

This is what it looks like to me: dust was floating through the air and because it was close to the lense, the camera had trouble focusing on that specific spot, so it appears as a round ball of light. The ones that are not round are due to the movement of the dust.

I am not a fan either nor am I convinced one way or another on orbs. Yours all look similar in very different places which lead me to believe there could be a camera issue and two of the places are known for orbs because of the surrounding conditions. That is opinion and not a conclusion and I am not trying to pick apart the photos.

As for me, I too was getting orbs like everyone else for years and is why I made up my multi-still camera outfit.

This way I can quickly tell if an orb is dust, moisture etc. and not waste time trying to figure things out because if it is a piece of dust moisture, etc. Then it can't be on or in front of both lenses at the same exact time or place.

However, as no one (regardless of what they claim), can positively identify what orbs are because they can’t duplicate the photos taken for comparison. Simply put they can’t capture the exact piece of dust, moisture, etc. So they can make assumptions but not conclusive statements regarding photos.

What I have also done to help myself in identification is take deliberate orb photos for comparison. I stomp around in old buildings,

 take photos in the rain,

 photos of bugs,

have someone blow smoke in front of the lens, etc.

I use these created orb & mist photos as reference for when I do catch something by mistake. It is not fool proof by any means but it helps me.

I just think experimentation is key and helps me from jumping to conclusions. Oh, and yes it is time consuming and hard work to do this and most people don't like to do it but I find it invaluable to me in my work. Well, for what it was worth, that's my feedback.

I'm not an orb fan either, but Chad recently took a picture with an orb in it that seemed interesting to me.

I really don't know what to make of the orbs in your photos, other than they look cool. LOL. I hope someone with more experience analyzing photos chimes in here!

I am not a big orb fan by any means and, like some, feel people get wayyy too excited about them. However, I'd like to gather feedback on a few I have recently captured at various locations over the summer. If for whatever reason you may feel these are not true orbs, please try to explain why. Perhaps there is some digital camera/flash issue that may be at fault, etc. that I do not know about. Thanks for your input!!

All photos were taken with a Fuji FinePix S-700 digital camera. Media used was a Sandisk Extreme III SD card. Original photos were captured at max res of 3072x2304. The originals can be viewed at http://www.mychael.me/orb1lg.JPG, /orb2lg.JPG, etc.

The first two pictures were captured during an investigation we conducted of Ft. Mifflin in Philly on 6.14.09-6.15.09. The time is approx. 0334hrs hours on the 15th. in casemate #5. These were taken back to back. Prior to these two, another member captured another very bright one here as well.
