Okay, here's a question for everybody. What would you constitute as proof of the paranormal?

Does it need to be validated by science, or is the fact that you saw something, albeit something unexplained, good enough for you?

Seeing as paranormal activity can't be validated by science at this time, that doesn't factor into the equation for me.

I take what I see, hear, read, etc., (people, equipment, environment), take into account the situation at hand, and then decide.

There is no absolute proof of an afterlife, ghosts, etc., but that doesn't mean those things don't exist.

Since I'm only in this hobby to help clients, I only need proof for the client. It will take whatever honest evidence that I collected to prove it to them. Whether it be an EVP, a video or just a picture. It will take a lot for me to be convinced that a piece of evidence was caught, and it has to be by my group. That way I have documention of where we were, what happened and how it happened.

My personal experiences and those of select colleagues works for me. Evidence is icing on the cake. Everything else, while I don't dismiss outright, bears further scrutiny.

From a scientific standpoint, I think we are a long way from bridging the gap and developing equipment to measure spirit activity, but we can do our best to develop equipment to discount normal factors. Might not to be able to tell you what is happening, but we could do our best to explain what isn't causing the event.

This question has been argued endlessly seemingly since time immemorial. Those who actually experience a paranormal encounter will argue that "They know what they saw", using their senses to validate their experience. On the other hand, a person with a skeptical nature will try to reason away an encounter through logic and debunking already believing that the phenomenon cannot exist, and therefore can be attributed to a more natural cause. It will be a difficult task for science to "validate" what we constitute as paranormal activity for as to date, the paranormal has yet to be quantified. However, I am certain that only by approaching the matter in a neutral manner using the proper scientific methods will we ever be able to move closer to the answer.

Archaeology is the peeping Tom of the sciences. It is the sandbox of men who care not where they are going; they merely want to know where everyone else has been.- Jim Bishop

I believe that science can in fact prove the existence of the paranormal for subjects such as ghosts. However, the science that comes closes to explaining somewhere in the same league is relatively new, misunderstood, and still just theory.

I guess I think of it as spiritual anomalies being two steps away from us now, and we are just beginning to take the next step (the step before). I believe that normally I would be wholeheartedly skeptical, but possibly open minded about the situation, but I am one of those who has experienced such paranormal instances time and time again while growing up. These instances were not fantasy or a natural occurrence as yet known to us and at the very least later in life was approached by a logical, competent mind. Undoubtedly skeptics will hold fast that I just did not understand the situation completely, and that is true, but I did understand it enough to know that it was not flight of fancy nor was it something that a skeptic could actually explain away with any conventional science.

This is how all new science seems to start out, and if one were scientific in their mindset, then they would know that it is alright to be skeptical, as long as the possibilities remain open (being open minded).
