Permission was received today for a "ghost hunt" on Saturday the 15th of this month

at the Olde Gin House here on St. Eustatius. The building was originally an old cotton

gin in the harbor section of the island. It is now a Hotel and Restaurant serving the

diving community.

Reported activity is very heavy at this location. Interviews have resulted in reports

of full bodied apparitions, both day and night, loud banging and voices. The majority

of the reports seem to include a cook for the establishment that passed away some

10 or more years ago. The activity seems to be clustered in a very small area encompassing

the kitchen, tavern and upstairs sitting room above the tavern. Below the tavern is a cellar that

was used to house the male slaves. The sitting room ,two floors above, was used to house the

women and children.

The buildings original construction was around 1675. The building is constructed of mostly stone

and small brick with wooden trusses, floors and gabled roof. Wooden full length storm shutters

enclose all window and door openings when secured.

Due to the restriction of space in the building the equipment utilized will be two personal DARs,

1 Sony high 8 night vision camcorder and 2 digital cameras. The hunters will be myself and 1 other

volunteer ,that I can convince to brave the "Jumbies", since Samuel is currently off-island.

I don't generally put much thought into pictures of orbs but….I was going through the prelimenary

pictures for the Olde Gin House and this orb seems to be different. I was using an 8 Mega pixel

digital camera and if the the picture is viewed with microsoft office picture viewer it seems to indicate

that the orb was of considerable size. Have a look and tell me what you think?

I would probably guess that because it is in front of a highly reflective surface (mirror), it is likely a light artifact. It's cool tho.

Looking forward to hearing your results.

At the Olde Gin House right now setting up equipment. Sony Night Shot

keeps shutting off and it is powered by a wall outlet. I hope to record some

really good stuff in the next 4 or so hours. I'll review everything tomorrow

in the AM and I'll post anything interesting on Monday.

After reviewing the DVR evidence 3 times. No significant anomalies were found on the digital recorder

other than footsteps in the loft. I will break that portion of the recording out and post it here as soon

as I correlate it with the Night shot camera. The Tropical storms are keeping us kinda busy at present.

Other than the footsteps which are clearly audible the DVR was suprisingly uneventful.

None whatsoever so far.. There is only one way up and I was the only one who went up or

came down all night.I announced my self each time and my ingress and egress is clearly audible.

It is the only wooden floor in the entire resort so I am having a hard time linking it to something

other than what it sounds like! Once I sync up the DVR with the Hi-8 Sony I'll have a better take

on the evidence. Because if anyone went up after I came down it will be on there.

Hi Jon!

Looking forward to your findings. Curious as to where the outlet was located you had problems with. Was it near the steps to the loft?

Hope you had a great time! Thanks for letting us know.

Be careful and stay safe, hurricane Bill is building strength.

The camera at 59:47 revealed no one in the wooden floored loft until 1:11:03 and that was me.

However here are the footsteps that were recorded. Tell me what you think? The loft is the only

place in the establishmant that has a wooden floor. The rest of the building is concrete floor throughout.

At first I think I hear footsteps followed by someone shutting something? Just my interpretation from what I hear.

Could it be loud knocks instead of footsteps?

When I listen to it in the Audacity program the first sound sounds like a heavier footfall.

The subsequent sounds seem to be the gait of a casual walk. The volume of this "walking?"

sound is quite a bit more subdued compared to actual walking sound that was made when

I entered or exited the loft. As usual I suppose anything is possible but only 2 other employees

were on the premises and they were in the office away from all wooden surfaces that could have

transmitted these sounds.

Weather conditions this week may make another visit possible before Friday.

Interesting!

I wonder if you will get footsteps on your next visit.

Thanks for sharing your evidence with us.

Can you post the known walking sound as a .wav file for side-by-side comparison?
