The group of which I am a member of, SVPS, made their first trip to Philadelphia, PA to investigate Fort Mifflin on June 14th, 2009. A total of 13 members, including myself, participated in the investigation from 9pm until 4am. We divided into two teams of four and one of five (and broke into smaller groups at times) and investigated various locations including: officer's quarters, casemates 1-5, 11, gunpowder & torpedo rooms, blacksmith shop and the commandant's house. Although IR cameras continuously monitored casemate 11 and the powder magazine, no video evidence was captured.

Personal Experiences

At dusk Lorraine began giving us a tour of the fort and the accounts of paranormal activity. We were standing about 15 yards in front of the blacksmith shop facing north toward the artillery shed. Another female member was standing behind Lorraine taking pictures of the area. As Lorraine continued speaking, I heard what sounded like a little girl giggle or laugh that seemed to originate from the small hill, left of the artillery shed. I looked around in disbelief for a moment to see if anyone else heard it. I noticed the girl taking the pictures had stopped and was looking around and seemed to be reacting to something as well. After a few seconds, she walked over and rejoined the group. I was positive she heard something. As we moved onto the next location I asked her if she had heard anything while we were standing in front of the blacksmith shop. She said, "I heard what sounded like a woman laughing." She also said something like – "Why do you think I walked over to where everyone else was standing?" We have no evidence to back up this account. However, after speaking with her, it was very validating for me.

Another experience occurred in the officer's quarters on two separate occasions and documented by two different teams. While on the first floor doing evp work, an open door slammed shut. "Team 1", comprised of 2 people, experienced this while they were in that very room and captured it on audio tape. They reported no breeze, no wind to speak of and yet this door was slammed shut with a violent thrust.

This same experience was reported by "Team 2", comprised of 2 people, much later into the investigation around 2:30am. After finishing an evp session on the first floor in which "Member A" was sitting beside this same door, which was open again, Team 2 decided to head upstairs and conduct further evp sessions. While upstairs, they heard a loud crashing sound. Thinking something had fallen, they both arrived downstairs to discover this same door shut tight. So tight in fact that you had to pry it from the door frame, as it was stuck. Again, no breeze or wind, and they could not re-create this event. As with Team 1, Team 2 was able to capture this event on audio.

While investigating the blacksmith shop, a member of my group reported a shadow figure of what appeared to be a child looking at him from just outside the rear door. Amazed and overwhelmed, he followed this figure for a brief time until it disappeared from sight. He was clearly startled to say the least.

EVPs

My 3 person group captured the bulk of the activity. Our team of five divided into 2 & 3 person groups the majority of the time. Below are the EVPs captured and their locations. For purposes of suggestion, you can visit this link below for the results of what is being said:

*Spoilers* – http://www.mychael.me/forum_ev…..sults.html

1- Myself & another member beginning an evp session in the torpedo room. If you have visited the fort you know this is a very small room. This was captured by me around 2am.

2- My big catch of the trip. I captured this in the powder room while our group of 5 was in there. I listened to this over & over & over again but couldn't understand what it was saying. Later, I listened to it only one time and understood it clear as day. Some people hear it right away while others definitely agree to its phrase once told. Very disturbing.

3- Again, group of 5 in the powder room. Although the name being said in this evp is not that of the member who captured it, he does have a very dark tan. -LoL- You'll understand what I mean in a second…

http://www.mychael.me/forumevp…..owder2.wav

4- This is very clearly a single dog bark captured in casemate 11. It is interesting because if you been to Ft. Mifflin, casemate 11 in particular, and you understand the fort and it surroundings… Where & why would a dog be around here? Much less sound that clear while down in this dungeon-like area? There was certainly no dogs there that night. During the same evp session this was captured, the two girls captured the exact same dog bark but in a series of 3-4 barks. I have not yet been able to get it from them.

5- This was a superb class A evp. The story behind this: As the 2 girls, mentioned above in #4, were preparing to leave casemate 11 and we were about to enter, one of them said, "Alright remember what we talked about Billy." Just prior she had been telling the reported spirit of casemate 11, William H. Howe, that the guys are coming down here in a bit and that "Billy" should really scare the crap out of us. And then this was captured.

6- This was captured in casemate 11 immediately after I ask my question- "People in jails today get better treatment than I'm sure you do…or did…"

7- This was captured by me while 5 of us were chatting about various things in casemate 5. A female member was explaining the location of where she had previously captured an orb photo.

8- Same circumstances as #7 and one member was explaining a story of how a guy waited on a paranormal group hand and foot and didn't get a t-shirt, hat or nothing… You will hear it right before I say, "They gave you business."

Photos

Again, I'm not an orb fan… but these are the only two photos of interest I captured in casemate 5 back to back:

Orb 1

Orb 2

Just before these another member caught another one. Funny story behind this was, as our group of 5 approached casemate 5, we all stopped at the door. No one said a word. It was certainly where we were going…but no one entered. Everyone just huddled at the door taking pictures. It was as if no one wanted to enter. -LoL- While that was occurring, we caught these. Kinda funny…

——————————

There were a ton of other unexplained voices and anomalies captured by all members. I am a logical, evidence driven person and am not one to get worked up or jump to conclusions. Nor am I much into the metaphysical side. I alone had over two pages worth of mysterious voices and sounds. If anyone ever gets the chance to go here I highly encourage it. There is a hotbed of activity. If anyone does go, I'd love to hear your results!! We are planning another visit in 2010.

Very thorough. The EVPs are pretty cool. The orb photos I'm less inclined to believe. I live in Philadelphia and have been to Ft. Mifflen. Not on an investigation or anything, just on trips and such. I wish I had paid better attention when I was there.

Awesome post.

Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try.

Wow a group of 13 people. I wonder if the number increased the activity.

Any feedback on these EVPs? Or perhaps evidence/experiences others have gathered from this location?
