Thanks. This was back in November. We've since then investigated this same place again, as well as two investigations at another location. And a little work in cemeteries for practice.

I am the founder of a group called IPIS. At the time, we weren't officially a group yet, and it was just my now co-founder and I. We had both experienced some paranormal activity in our homes, so we decided to do an investigation at her house.

All we had was a few flashlights, a miniDV, and a couple of digital cameras. We set up the equipment in the room she had most of the experiences in and began our first investigation.

Right away, something happened. We had just bought a brand new flashlight, which had brand new batteries in it. We were sitting in the room, getting ready to begin an EVP session and I was holding the flashlight. Suddenly, it shut off. Now, I have several of these flashlights and when the battery dies, they dim a few times before actually shutting off. This flashlight did not dim, it simply shut off, as if someone had slid the button down. Thinking I had accidentally turned it off, I went to slid the button back up. It was already turned on. I don't know how to explain this. There's nothing wrong with the flashlight, I have used it since and it works fine. I thought maybe the batteries hadn't been filled all the way, but again it still should have dimmed before going off.

Later, we tried the flashlight trick. We sat a flashlight on the table, and asked the entity to turn the flashlight on. A few minutes later, the flashlight actually did turn on, shocking both of us. Now, the problem with this is that we tried to make it easier for the entity to turn it on by unscrewing the top and sliding the button up just enough so that if anyone just tapped the button, it would come on. I later found out that if you do it just right, the tension in the button actually causing it to slowly slide forward and turn thr light on. But after the flashlight came on, we did retry this, and checked to see if walking around the table, banging on the table, etc. would cause it to turn on. No luck.

Then, later, since we had no IR lights, we left a small flashlight near the camcorder so there was just enough ambient light for it to be able to pick up any movement. This flashlight shut off after approximatley 15 - 20 minutes. However, the batteries in this light were used, so most likely they just died.

After reviewing the evidence, we found a few odd things. The one that really stuck out was an odd scraping/hissing sound. We have no way to explain it. I origianlly thought it was a cat hissing, but since the cats weren't in the room and after hearing it through headphones, it doesn't sound like a cat, I don't know what to make of it.

This investigation was mostly inconclusive, but it did make us want to continue investigating, and so IPIS was born. We also just completed a second investigation at this location. We still have to go over the evidence, and I will post about it later. (Unless I forget.....which may happen....)

Thanks for sharing your first investigation.

What type of activity did your friend experience at her house?
