Thanks for the info. While I'm not really into CCTV setups, this is pretty tempting - at least to get me thinking about it. Price-wise, that is hard to beat.

Thw wolfcom is a cctv type camera, and it's spec'd distance rating is 150', but 100 would be more of a real world figure. It also depends on your target, location, etc. but they are very impressive...

The sony was the dcr-sr65 handycam hybrid camcorder. I knew it was weak in nightshot, but despite throwing more and more illumination at it, it is still pretty dim. Not unusable, but as you see, not admirable either.

Sony beats it at resolution, but I need dark performance.

	regards,

It's a shame since Sony is still the leader in camcorders for ghost hunting. I'm really surprised someone else like JVC or Panasonic hasn't taken up the slack. Guess we are a very small minority when it comes to customers.

Recent topics in another forum about late model hybrid Sony's performance while in niteshot mode prompted me to do a quick test to see the difference for myself. I should mention that there is an insane amount of ir illumination here, all 850nm (approx. 30 led's in the ring, and the onboard led on the sony). There is a typo on the picture as the size of the ccd on the Wolfcom 912 is 1/3" not 1/4" 9as stated in pic). Results pretty much speak for themselves, and as far as late model sony cameras go, it isn't a matter of how much illumination really, it just isn't overly sensitive to IR.
