Our local sheriff's dept. just bought these. This product is based out of the UK but there seem to be plenty on ebay. Some of the guys are even using them as dash cams in their cruisers and they have nothing but great things to say about the video and sound quality. Apparently you can get 5-8 hours on an 8gb card, but the battery dies about 2-3 hours in. Unfortunately it uses an internal battery that requires charging via USB.

I was thinking this would be pretty handy just for video continuity with all the devices an investigator uses. It would make it easier to sync up should you forget something, and it would be an extra set of eyes.

Now I wonder if there are any IR mods for it yet. Hmmm.... /dry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

EDIT: According to engadget.com, this appears to be a rebranded AEE mini DV cam that is widely available for less than a benjamin.
