At first I was highly skeptical of devices like the Ghost Watchdog and Tennessee spirit mike as they both employ sensors designed to detect Scalar/gravity wave fluctuations (if I understand correctly). I was more than skeptical, I was deadset against it (I was the same way with ghost boxes and digital dowsing gear until I tried them). I get that way, if something sounds really outlandish, I usually dismiss it outright until it starts gnawing at me to eventually give it a try out of pure curiosity. After reading the review in PUG magazine of the Tennessee Spirit Mike, and listening to a better explanation from Marshall Dudley, I figure, wth, I will give it a shot (when budget allows).

It is on that note, that I forwarded a request many months ago to Beth Brown, the host of the Ghostlab podcast on Para-x, suggesting this topic. Her show models ITC/EVP experiments according to the scientific method in such simple terms that most people can follow along and conduct their own experiments. Beth produced a number of shows many months back then the show went on hiatus. I am happy to report that I received an email from Beth reporting that the show is coming back, and that she is going to attempt to do a show based on gravity/scalar/tensor field waves and their possible application in paranormal research. I am not sure if she will be devising her own experiments, or using already available equipment, but she did say that she was going to try to do some experimentation and testing on the subject. I am pretty excited, and it looks like it will be an interesting show to say the least.

Thanks

Andy

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the implications of scalar wave theory. Aside from it being called "pseudoscience" (a sure way to spot somebody who read about it on Wiki and doesn't understand any of it), I've heard it described as everything from modulation of static magnetic fields to the temporal equivalent of Einstein's special relativity. If electromagnetic waves vibrate perpendicular to their axis of travel, then scalar waves vibrate along their axis of travel, like waves rolling up a beach.

One interesting aspect of it is that not only is energy proportional to mass, but time is also energy, and all elementary particles like quarks and leptons are really just standing resonances in the scalar field that underlies the Universe. If you look at a lot of the underpinnings of physics, like that the energy of a wave is proportional to its frequency (how fast it vibrates), it makes at least as much sense as string theory. Quantum mechanics is really more of a mathematical framework than an explanation of how the Universe really works.

It's not even a new idea. Maxwell postulated it back in the early 19th century, along with the rest of his electromagnetic equations. Tesla did a huge amount of research on it, before concluding that mankind wasn't ready for that kind of knowledge. I'd love to really understand it all, but my once nimble young mind is hardening like well-aged concrete.

I fart, therefore I art.

I've seen others who have had good result using scalar microphones like the Tennessee Spirit Mike. Our use of it has been limited thus far, and we haven't had results – but that doesn't mean anything other than there are no EVPs at that time. As you know, you can go for a ton of investigations and never have a single EVP – so the fact that we've used it twice (once improperly) and not had results means nothing. We will keep trying.

One of the things that Jim pointed out to me as I was struggling to wrap my brain around scalar theory (something I have not yet done) is that what we're really talking about here is what is often referred to in Quantum Mechanics as the Zero Point field. That energy which underlies absolutely everything in the universe.

That's it. The sum total of knowledge I currently have on the subject.

Hint: Read up on Nikola Tesla. /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The Germans were also said to be dabbling in this area during World War II, and beyond if some are to be believed.

I love stuff about Tesla. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Huh – someone should write an article about it…. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Indeed. I can kindof make sense of….never mind. I cannot wrap my brain around it. That is not to say I won't get it, I just haven't had it properly translated into layman's terms. "Longitudinal EM wave propagation" is about all I can understand, lol.

I am really getting curious about the Tennessee Spirit Mike. Mr. Dudley certainly knows his stuff and is more than qualified I think to speak on the matter. After reading his article in the evp/itc issue, I am sold.

I'm actually a little tempted to take ours apart and wrap the antenna with opposing Neodymium magnets, to enhance it's sensitivity to transverse EM modulation, similar to what Marcus Leader is doing with his Beryllium crystal boundary mikes. I have a sneaking suspicion that the antenna in the spirit mike is just a counter-wound copper wire that self-cancels normal RF energy. Maybe a magnetic compression bubble would give it a little more oomph. Karen just dreads it when my inner Tim Taylor comes out…

But only on the ghost mike. Not on the dishwasher or anything.

Let me know your results Jim and Karen, and if it works out, I'll do the same to my Tennessee Spirit Mike as well.

If he does it – it may be months down the line. Football season is starting and as Jim says, "you're about to lose me."

No truer words have ever been spoken.

Yes, I noticed the temperature had dropped by about a degree here in California. I attributed it to the coming fall. It's just unnatural, fall should not be 80 degrees.

On the same note, can't wait for College football, and the NFL. Go Vols, and go Raiders!

You wish! The old Silver and Black FTW!

Don't get me wrong, Texas Tech is an okay team, but I generally watch SEC play as opposed to the Big 12.

It's not fall yet babycakes! We've got more than a month to go, and when we get there, you WILL notice the change between summer and fall. It's awesome!

Can't wait for fall. LOVE fall. LOVE IT! Cooler temps. Pretty colors. Crunch leaves. That fall smell. My favorite season – especially mid October in the PacNW.

The sensor is actually an Emfit electret sensor. Specifically the long oval one you see on this page:

http://www.emfit.com/sensors/s…../s-series/

They can be purchased from Emfit for $50 each, and is one reason why the cost to build them is so high.

Whether the sensor is actually picking up scalar/gravitational waves is open to question. All I know is that I convinced myself that electret sensors should be sensitive to such waves, and then went looking for a large one which was not a microphone. Since it worked I believe that my original assumption was correct, but do admit I may have simply lucked into it picking up something else entirely. The unit has a charge sensitive amplifier with a 100 pf feedback capacitor (the sensor is around 400 pF), followed by an amp with a gain of 33. Low frequency roll-off of around 100 hertz is accomplished via the 20 meg resistor across the 100 pf feedback cap and by an RC network on the input of the second stage. The dual op used is the LT1113, the lowest noise dual op amp available which will work with high input impedances.

The sensor is padded with foam rubber to cut down on audio pickup and to muffle the ambient sounds. The foam also seems to enhance the pickup of the EVP, whether they are gravitational waves or not. It is enclosed in an aluminum box to completely eliminate any electromagnetic waves, from TV, radio or other sources.

I had one person who said they had taken one on 3 investigations and got nothing. I asked him to send me a 10 minute clip from one of the investigations, and found 14 EVPs on it using Adobe Audition. He did not have the proper analysis tools, and did not catch any of them simply listening to it. One thing you have to get used to is listening for the EVPS. With a conventional digital recorder you have to listen for whispers, very low volume verbage, and the context of the talking to pick out EVPs. With this unit I find it much easier to listen for clear speech in the middle of muffled speech and of course whispers still, although many EVPs are not whispers. In many cases the EVP may be louder than the people talking, so amplitude is no longer a good guide as to what is an EVP and what is talking.

I hope this has answered some questions.

Marshall
