Finally got it today. Having so much fun with it, it is unreal. Bigfoot or other paranormal anomalies can't hide now, lol…

I think these are great tools for the cryptozoologist and anyone seeking things that give off a heat signature. Sure makes it easy at night too I would think?

Was it very expensive?

Got mine for a heck of a deal. These usually bring 5k used on ebay, but I got mine for 2.8k. I chose this one because of the higher resolution than current FLIR units in the same price range and it does have video out over RCA jack. Newer ones export 9hz video over usb which is cumbersome and has a choppy frame rate. I have a whole battery of tactile reaction experiments planned, and I can't wait to take it to work and check out some of the rural wooded areas with it.

When are you going bigfoot hunting again Andy? I can't wait to hear about your results of the FLIP on the next hunt.

I was planning for an expedition next after spring break. I love the temp alarm feature, it will work very well for BF hunting. I can set a red isotherm temperature alarm for any temp I want to. Advantage being, if something registers above a certain temp, it will show up as red (or any other color) against a grey palette. I should get my battery powered DVR this week so hopefully soon I can get some video posted up.

here is a FLICKR set of me playing around with it at home and work…

I'm EXTREMELY excited for you!

Looks like you are already learning the FLIR and doing well at it.

I like the pictures of the hot water heater. It took me a moment to figure out what it was but then it's obvious.

I was playing with my fire department's thermal camera tonight at the racetrack and noticed something interesting. Tonight was the racetrack's firework show and when I tried to view the fireworks exploding through the TIC nothing showed up. I kinda understand why now but still thought it was interesting.
