Well - we certainly had a little experience with the difference between Hi-Def and low-def investigation. To the investigators out there - if you can swing a Hi-def recorder like the H4 (which we are offering as a prize in our fiction contest, by the way!), run it side-by-side with your regular digital audio recorder. The results are interesting. The one realllly interesting audio clip we have is on both hi and low-def - but strangely, it is less audible (but still clearly there) on the hi-def, even tho the two recorders were side by side. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

We had the same experience with cameras. The DLSR clearly ruled out some of the odd things we found on a little digital Elf type camera that was probably five megapixels or so.

I would guess that if we ran video side-by-side (instead of only using the hi-def), it would be something similar.

My theory at this point: The lower the definition, the easier it is to misidentify something - whether a sound or an image. What do you guys think? Has anyone tried hi-def/low-def side-by-side? Do you think this is a valid experiment to continue on with?
