Lady, one of my travels would be very similar to yours...

I did talk to my dad the night before he died and told him I loved him when we hung up. (a luxury my siblings didn't get) He suffered from Congestive Heart Failure and wasn't supposed to be out in the heat of the day. As the stubborn man he was, he went to the grocery store with noone to help him. He was found on his kitchen floor by his sister who lived next door. He hadn't gotten all his groceries inside.

If I did go back, it would be to find out if he was scared, if he suffered or if he died instantly, and to offer aid to him if he was afraid. Selfish maybe, but questions that have plagued me for 19 years.

I don't see much reason to go back in time to change anything. Even if you did believe in alternate/parallel dimensions, then changing something there wouldn't change anything in your life when you go back, so what does it matter? So I suppose I'd observe different places in history that are mysterious. Such as wanting to see exactly what happened to the Colony of Roanoke Island (though I'm sure the reason is mundane).

I would want to go way in the future. Well beyond my lifetime. I don't want to know my life ahead of time - I want it to unfold as it does.

If I went to the past, it wouldn't be to participate. It would be to witness. There are a few things I'd like to know about.

An interesting twist. I once read this book where scientists had come up with "worm hole" cams. Instead of traveling into the past or the future, you could open up a wormhole through which you could view events in the past or the future without being observed. I'd probably be more interested in that manner of time travel. Although there are some events where I would love to go and just be a part of the energy of the event so that I could have more of a context for how it felt to be there.

In our August issue of Paranormal Underground (which will be online in just a couple of days), we focus on Alternate Dimensions/Parallel Universes and Time Travel.

While putting the issue together, one question that kept popping into my head involved time travel. And that question wasn't whether or not time travel will ever be possible, but that WHEN Time Travel IS possible -- that is being able to travel to a past time or a future time -- would I REALLY do it if I had the chance, and if I would do it, why?

Let's look at the past. What would be the purpose to "go back"? To learn a lesson from the past? To change the past? To see a relative again who has since passed on? To be witness to something great in our history?

There are many reasons that one might want to time travel to the past. How many of us have joked about "If we could only do this or that over again ..."? "If we could only see a dear family member or friend again who has passed on."

But as a firm believer in things happening for a specific reason, I don't want to change the past, so I wouldn't go back for that. And I don't think I would need to go back to learn a lesson, as I can do that just fine from where I'm at. LOL. But I have to admit, being able to go back and see family members and friends that have since crossed over is a pleasant thought for me, as is being witness to something significant in history, something good and profound.

But I'm still not sure I'd time travel to the past because that time is behind us.

How about time traveling to the future? What does intrigue me about the future is the unknown. What will happen 20, 50, 100, 1,000, 10,000 years from now? What will the world be like. What will the universe be like? What will we KNOW then?

I do think I'd jump at the chance to time travel to the future. Finding out what the human race is like down the road fascinates me.

What about you? If you could time travel to the past or future, would you? And why or why not?

This discussion isn't so much a debate, as just a conversation about what intrigues us with Time Travel.

Maybe we can debate whether Time Travel will ever be possible in another thread. LOL

Visiting loved ones, or friends that have passed on may be a comfort. I would not want to change the events of my life, good or bad. I have no reason to go back for that purpose, only. I believe my life is and was about my choices, it's just how I deal with the choices. Then there are other things I can't control. That's one of the tough parts of life, realizing what I can't control, and moving on.

I would be very tempted to go back and view historical events to get answers (facts). I have many unanswered questions. But, going back and viewing events and having conversations with people in history to get my questions answered, may end the enjoyment to my current life. What does keep me going, are questions and seeking, if that were taken away by me going back, my life may be worthless to me. The mysteries would be solved. For that reason I would not go back, but the temptation of being able to do so may be great torture to me.

I would have to consider others going back and making changes. Could their changes have some present day effect on me, my family, and society. I would not want that.

The future, I would have great interest in seeing, but not the future that would include my life. Don't want to know how the rest of my life turns out, it would ruin the ride. I would be interested to see peoples lives, 50, 100 years from now, and so on. Would just enjoy observing, how far we have come. I would hope that would be the case in the future, no wars, mankind living in harmony.

If that were part of future, I'd go there first.
