I think that there is definitely residual energy left behind by people and even things. But, I think that there are intelligent spirits around us. And I even think that maybe a part of us can split off and stay behind ... even seemingly acting intelligently with the living. I'm not sure about this last part, though.

It's believed that all living creatures are made up of energy. No one knows what happens to the energy after we die. Going by Einstein's laws then energy is neither created nor destroyed, so what happens to it. Maybe by making a house a home, we are giving some of our energy to the home. It can either override the incoming presence or strengthen it and allow it to remain. This all depends on us when we move into a new house.

Time to revive an old thread. I have often read that spirits or ghosts as many people call them are the energies left over when people pass away. All living things eventually die including animals, birds, plants and all things that have life. I have seen, heard and was touched or harmed by spirits. So if this theory that spirits are leftover energy, then anything that has ever lived would leave behind a spirit. I have seen spirits that looked human to me and I have seen the spirit of a cat. I don't believe that I ever saw the spirits of any other animal, bird, fish, tree or plant.

I know what the word "paranormal" means and recently I came across the word "perinormal" which is new to me. I never saw this word or heard it spoken. definitely NOT a family member, unless you mean a deceased one.

in that case i wouldnt know. but it wasnt a living person.

nothing "bad" ever happened, just that after seeing the

ghost i became terrified of the room (it stopped being

my bedroom) and to this day, even as an adult i get

scared when i have to go into it, but especially at night.

there to get the presents and someone/something knocked

very loudly on the window. this is on the 2nd floor. when i

could finally make myself move and look out the window,

which over looked the porch roof, the snow was untouched.

so no one or nothing was out there.

in the house I grew up in. A house that was in my family since around

the 1920s.

It was bought by my Grandfather's parents (when he was an adult).

When they died it became my Grandfather's house and he lived in

it until he died in 1990. My father grew up in the house and moved

back there with me and my brother in the late 60s, and lived with

my grandfather. My father still lives in that house.

It's been a home for decades with no break.

I think good energy, or a presence can be left and felt.

Maybe, not everything has to have a tragic ending.

It seems most stories start with a family moves into a new house, rather it is newly built or not, it doesn't matter, and shortly after activity starts. It might be a few months after the last box is unpacked but it starts slowly like the presence is testing it's boundaries. Positive emotional energy hasn't had time to build up yet, so the presence is building. Finally the family starts to notice, either they accept it and live with it or they freak out and try everything they can to get rid of it. The presence doesn't have to be evil, good or neutral. It doesn't matter if it's intelligent or residual. It's there and until the house becomes a home it will remain.

Sometimes a house can turn into a home with a presence as part of the residence. This is where the family has accepted whatever moved in without their notice. They might feel they are not at harm or they might believe that the presence is of a dearly departed family member.
