OfflineAs an afterthought, and actually something I meant to put into that post:
Paranormal investigation was not invented by television ghost hunters.
Someone way smarter than I posted here how long people have been experiencing and seeking answers to questions they have no answers for. JDHarrison is a wonderful source to go to with questions about how long ghosts/spirits/demons have been reported and investigated. How many generations ago were people conducting seances to contact the dead…?
I really, seriously, have never met someone who believed ANYTHING that was shown on a paranormal television show. We have had the WTF moments, but to believe that flying brick at the GoldField or scratches on Stuart at the Ancient Ram Inn as evidence is a stretch at best.
Now for those people who say that GH/GHI/MH, ad nauseum have never faked evidence, I put forth only one theory: editing.
You know, I have never met anyone either who believed the paranormal shows are the real deal, either.
I'd like to hear what JD has to say. Paranormal investigative history, I have no clue. But, over the years I've found some tidbits of info, it's been around for a long time.
Read an article, it was also very fashionable in the early 1900's. Everything old is new again.

OfflineSee Sympathy, why I don't believe these shows do damage to serious investigations.
I think it its a fluke when someone sees a group on television and believe they can give him help.
In all honesty, when I went to a parnormal tv site, I really did not expect to find people who thought it was the real deal.
My eyebrows raised. I try to remain open minded and respectful of peoples opinions.
Not sure what I expected, but was not expecting people putting faith in a tv show.

Oh, I've met a few people who have believed evidence or investigative techniques shown on paranormal shows to be genuine and the right way to go about investigating … Chad and I being two of those people.
For instance, I definitely think that genuine paranormal evidence has been caught on camera for some of these shows. Whether I'm right or wrong, no one knows for sure.
I know that Chad mistakenly thought that most paranormal investigations were done in the dark because of what he saw most of the TV groups doing. That is, until he started investigating himself and talked to many other investigators who aren't on TV. (He recently wrote a Pub Letter about this.)
